This waltz makes me think of the song Once Upon A December from the movie Anastasia. In the movie the young man's name is Dmitry. How cute is that? Mya looks like Cinderalla dancing with her prince charming. I wonder if she felt like a princess dancing to this beautiful piece of work Dmitry made.

Carrie Ann didn't "call her" on the lift because there is no lift, Mya's bent leg is in contact with the floor during the entire spin. I suggest you look at the HD version on a decent-sized screen.
Mya's an amazing dancer: elegant, powerful and lovely to watch. Without Mya on this show my DWTS season pass would have been removed from my DVR a couple of months ago.

@mommynab Mya did attend the Dance school of Harlem for tap dance, which of course enhanced her techniques. She also danced in some of her videos that have been out for the last decade.
Does no one understand that tap does NOT enhance your dancing in ballroom? I should know because i took tap ballet and jazz as a child and do ballroom now. Really the only thing that can help you there is ballet for balance which she did not take. If anyone I heard Donny took ballroom lessons for a year or something like that. She is just talented and an amazing dancer people should stop trying to find little things to argue about over why she is so good and why she has an "advantage"

They seem to be more geared toward gymnastic like moves.There is such a thing as urban ballroom dancing -Chicago Stepping-needs to be added, just like the country 2 step was.I've been posting that on their website.There are plenty of example of it on youtube.

I agree. Previous dance experience in other areas can only help a little here and there. The technique for ballroom vs other dance styles is very different. She's probably the best DWTS has ever had but she is no professional. You can tell in some of her arm movement where she swings with her arm rather than leading with her hands. She is not a pro but sooo great and should win the show!

well Mya beat out countless other professional dancers for a dancing role in the jailhouse tango in the Chicago movie. i believe that those dancing had to have a dancers guild card...what does that tell you? i bet no one else on the show have such credentials
Can you prove she "beat out countless other professional dancers"? She's not the first person to be on this show with some NON BALLROOM dancing experience but people are making a big deal about her because she's the only good dancer on a season of mediocre/bad dancing. Melissa Rycroft, Kristy Yamaguchi, Sabrina Bryan, and Mel B did not get this much criticism because their seasons had multiple good dancers.
