i got one of those but i just use a regular old PVC one and use 2" foam sabots with sharpened railroad spikes with fins i welded to stuck in them.

works just as fine ;D

But I can't see the local police doing anything about it anyway. It is operated under completely safe conditions now.

@boomboom314159 The sabot was inside the pipe, a triangular piece of styrofoam running the length of the projectile in every gap between the fins.

I would guess it was atleast mach one judging from the sound. You can hear when a object that big breaks the sound barrier :P

@Spudfarm1 Very cool! I have a crazy experiment coming up soon. It's basically a disposable gun using a high explosive as the propellant, and water tamping to increase the blast inside of the barrel and on the projectile, before the barrel is shredded. There will be alot of shrapnel so I'm being very precautious, but I am expecting insane speeds of the projectile, and the target is a slab of steel 3 inches thick.

@boomboom314159 not necessarily, you can make a chamber to contain almost any type of high explosive, the real factor is how sturdy it has to be, and of course what HE you are using.

@spudinator1 well of course, but the chamber would have to be extremely large, thick and heavy. For 100g or more of a high velocity HE, you would probably need a chamber weighing at least 100 pounds. Even then, you would only get a small number of shots out of it, because of all the wear on the barrel. But, if I could find a piece of metal that big, I would try it.
