Also Rb20 turbos max at 12psi before the high risk of grenadeing. Rb25 turbos go to 15-18 from what I've seen but the boost over 14 is sketchy for risk of ceramic wheel like the Rb20 aswell. I assume you have a Rb25 turbo? Also you have a digital gauge or wideband to tell you your psi? My autometer gauge said 10psi when I was at 7psi on stock Rb20 turbo and stock ecu nothing done at the time. You look at gauge when you saw the boost? Just curious how you know and what turbo you run
Rb20det silvertop can do 450hp but you need cams, valve train, cam gears, Cometic head gasket, some sort of upgraded turbo and a standalone or ROM ecu. 350hp is max on stock internals. The bottom end is good to 450hp. If you need more than that on a Rb20 then don't bother and go Rb25 or Rb26. My Rb20 does 328hp with 301tq with a Nistune ecu, gt2871r, gtr 370cc injectors and a few little things. Dont need more. I was actually happier on my Rb25 turbo on 12lbs at 256hp on stock ecu. 3k well spent
@eazyduzzit64 we have done several rb20's that high all of them made over 300hp to the wheels...but it is not recommended to go that high it could destroy your turbo........but then again who wouldn't want a reason to upgrade their turbo
17 pounds is fine on stock internal rb's. Its the turbo that you have to worry about. Anything past 14 psi the exhaust wheels wants to spin off or break.
