I agree with all the Inglourious Basterds actors on the list, that's for sure. Those four were probably my favorite characters in the movie with Christoph Waltz. Fassbender and Diehl did such a good job in that Tavern scene...my favorite scene ever.
Great choices! With so many to choose from, i think some very underrated performances were Michael Fassbender in Hunger Ralph Fiennes in Spider Matt Damon in The Talented Mr.Ripley Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive Robert Downey Jr. in Natural Born Killers Val Kilmer in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Maria Bello in A History in Violence Tim Robbins in The Player J.K. Simmons in Juno Harvey Keitel in Bad Lietenant Marlon Wayans in Requiem for a Dream James Woods in Best Seller
Nice to see a lot of those performances on the list. I'd probably also include Ashton Kutcher in The Butterfly Effect, Tom Hanks in The Terminal, Adam Sandler in Punch-Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, and Spanglish, Kevin Bacon in Death Sentence, the girl from The Orphan, Tobin Bell from SAW 1 - 7, and Kristen Stewart in all of her movies other than Twilight.
This topic maybe a matter of what you know or who you hang out with. You and your friends might think a performance is amazing and ignore everything ales.
With the disclaimer out of the way. I would have to say (at the top of my head) Ken Watanabe in "Letters From Iwo Jima"
@boomhs1 oh for sure, i fully expected him to be nominated. though i haven't seen The Kids Are Alright, i'm happy he's got a nom, based for me on his previous body of work.
@AndyJmovies Yeah he gave a nice solid performance in that movie. It wasnt one of those performances where your totally blown away, but it felt real and wasn't over done.
@SuperSpursFan17 i totally agree with all these i've seen (yet to see drag me to hell). i actually think Cottilard was the best thing about Public Enemies (take that depp!). Nice inclusion of Cillian, Reynolds and Casey too. I'd also throw in Rockwell, Renner and paul Schneider who all gave great performances in Jesse James.
@AndyJmovies Ye Jesse James had a great cast and is a very underrated film. Rockwell in particular is one of my fav actors, he was great in Moon and Iron Man 2. Completely agree with you about Cottilard in Public Enemies, if she is in a movie then you know her parts are going to be great. Drag Me To Hell is a very enjoyable Sam Raimi comedy/horror in the vein of the Evil Dead, is best seen with a bunch of easily scared people, in a dark room with the volume up to the max! good halloween movie.
