Medically, its called "Informed Consent" and its LEGALLY REQUIRED that EVERY patient be able to give it before surgery. Very nice to hear all this, however, I read that the foreskin is analogous to clitoral hood, and that there shouldn't be any bleeding, if the boy retracts it himself. Bleeding can occur if someone yanks it back while it's still fused to the glans. The kid himself will not try to do this, since it's painful.

Actually - after forcible retraction (i.e. before it's ready to be pulled back), the guy often *isn't* okay. Although I don't think you can compare the foreskin to the hymen. It is not natural at all for the foreskin to bleed upon retracting for the first time. It may be a little tight and tender, but if it bleeds then something is wrong. The foreskin stops being fused to the glans at about age 4, so with gentle manipulation it should retract fairly easily. I didn't bleed when I pulled mine back for the first time and neither did any of my friends. It shouldn't happen.
@Sambucca For some men, retraction is not possible until puberty. Sometimes it is never possible and yet poses no problems. It is important to be aware that no one, including doctors, should ever attempt to forcefully retract a boy. Doing so could cause damage from ripping and scarring. Only the owner of a penis should be the one to retract it, if he ever decides to do so.
Yeah I'm not disputing that, I'm just saying it's not normal that the foreskin should bleed upon its first retraction. This guy says it as if it's fact, but I've never heard of it before. Like I said after the first few years of a boy's life, the membrane of the foreskin becomes detatched from the glans, allowing him to retract the skin. In some cases the tip of the foreskin is too tight making retraction difficult, but for most boys it happens fairly naturally about age 7.

@TheMasculinist - Um so you don't believe millions of dollars is enough for doctors to push for this procedure instead of finding alterior methods? Look at all the people that believe circumcision is beneficial and yet you still don't believe people have been brainwashed into thinking this way? MEDICALLY it is not completley unnecessary in the eyes of medical proffessionals you are being ignorant if you truly believe that.

I think miss read Unthiest comment. You cannot link FGM (Type III) to male circumcision just as you cannot link female circumcision to MGM (Type III). All genital mutilatIon is bad. Trying to compare GM among the sexist and say that one is worst than the other will not gain you support.
(Also if your going to compare the clitoris to the foreskin you might want to take size into account.)

@wildrew I didnt say one was worse than the other, thats what unthiest, some 19yr old kid, implied. i think that all mutilation is bad, and yes I am comparing male circumcision to female circumcision, because they are both human rights violations, and all I see is babies genitals being cut up against their will--I dont make sexist, hypocritical, double-standard, bigoted, or chauvinistic exceptions...unlike many people who think that FGM is worse than MGM.Theyre both monstrous.

Very nice to hear all this, however, I read that the foreskin is analogous to clitoral hood, and that there shouldn't be any bleeding, if the boy retracts it himself. Bleeding can occur if someone yanks it back while it's still fused to the glans. The kid himself will not try to do this, since it's painful.

@LannaDru There can be bleeding depending on how old the child is when the foreskin is pulled back. If taken upon themselves to wait and decide when to pull it back-there wouldnt be bleeeding because a child would have the tendency to only start touching that area after the age of five, which is the same age when the frenulum has already detached from the penile hood (foreskin).making the foreskin plyable and able to slide along the shaft without incident (pain, tearing,bleeding. or infection)

@TheMasculinist, I think that kotfrank is on the same side as you on this! The recent Danish study indicates that circumcised men are more prone to sexual dysfunction and less sexual pleasure (as are their partners). Circumcision is a mutilation.

Actually - after forcible retraction (i.e. before it's ready to be pulled back), the guy often *isn't* okay. Permanent damage can occur, which can also lead to future issues (infection, etc.) This is why many of the supposed 'foreskin problems' happen in America - doctors ignorantly advise parents to retract the child's foreskin (or parents just take it upon themselves, thinking that's what they're supposed to do).

It doesnt take a lot to HEAR the words...JUST DONT TOUCH IT...but people want to do their own thing, and that includes cutting babies up just so their lazy asses dont have to deal with NOT touching it. Men born in THIS country have Freedom of Religion, and are not given the opportunity to express their interests regarding their own body. The First Amendment states you can express your religion yourself but CANNOT force it on another

@TheMasculinist The way I usually pose 1st Amendment Rights for people who want to circumcise is to remind them that their son has the same right to Freedom of Religion... I'm often surprised by people who do not understand or refuse to acknowledge this. There still, I have also had the response that the parents/mother/father never looked at it that way... Why NOT? Scream about parental rights but ignore your son's 1st Amendment Rights? Very contradictory.

Catholics don't cirucmcise, nor do Protestants, Orthodox, or Pentecostals. The Church's Council of Florence condemned the practice back in 1442.

Although I don't think you can compare the foreskin to the hymen. It is not natural at all for the foreskin to bleed upon retracting for the first time. It may be a little tight and tender, but if it bleeds then something is wrong. The foreskin stops being fused to the glans at about age 4, so with gentle manipulation it should retract fairly easily. I didn't bleed when I pulled mine back for the first time and neither did any of my friends. It shouldn't happen.

@Sambucca For some men, retraction is not possible until puberty. Sometimes it is never possible and yet poses no problems. It is important to be aware that no one, including doctors, should ever attempt to forcefully retract a boy. Doing so could cause damage from ripping and scarring. Only the owner of a penis should be the one to retract it, if he ever decides to do so.

Yeah I'm not disputing that, I'm just saying it's not normal that the foreskin should bleed upon its first retraction. This guy says it as if it's fact, but I've never heard of it before. Like I said after the first few years of a boy's life, the membrane of the foreskin becomes detatched from the glans, allowing him to retract the skin. In some cases the tip of the foreskin is too tight making retraction difficult, but for most boys it happens fairly naturally about age 7.
