@egyptianminor no actually it is paul who did the soloit has his finger print all over it with those fast pace vibratos and fast hammer ons and pull offs john was rythm guitar and george was lead with paul

I've got to check that , there's a book out there w/ recording info personnel to every song on every album they did, and I remember reading that on this track -and to my great surprise - Lennon was played the solo, despite what it may sound like - and I know John was originally the rhythm player in the band; you know that wrote that tune by himself right? By 1967 the Lennon/McCartney was a mere publishing convenience.

@egyptianminor did i say george and paul? dam srry bout that wuz thinkin of another song.and the weird thing is that the recording enginner said paul played it on his fender esquire and theres also photos of paul durning the pepper sessions of this song and lennons casino dosent give that dirty sound as a esquire does but i dont feel like argueing who did it

I hope this isn't heresy, but I didn't know this song until Beatles Rockband.

It quickly became one of my favs. though.

I really didn't know anything about Sgt. Pepper (beyond the titular track) because the radio doesn't seem to play anything outside of "Imagine," Yesterday," and occasionally a few McCartney/Wings songs.

I also think Sgt. Pepper's Hearts Dub Band is great. Search for it, if you like reggae and Beatles and haven't heard it yet:)

im very surprised how much the Beatles rock band changed this song i mean all there is guitar and drum(at least you can hear) you can barley hear the strange(but good) sound covering everything i cant really finger out what is making the sound though

@clark6050 Instruments used during recording: rythm guitar, 2 lead guitars, bass guitar, drums, tambourine, 3 saxophones, 2 trombones, French horn (some of the players are from famous group Sounds Incorporated).

The rest of the sound is made by George Martin who compressed all the instruments and highlited the brass.
