@xinuchan1 Overall cost about $80.00. I made these from parts of a LED light up t-shirt and and LED lighting system, both I got from ebay. A small company is making these lights now for sale. You can find them here on youtube. Check out iwdrum.
I'm glad that LED's have come so far since the 70s back then they were exspensive but now they are everywhere and it's great to see how this technology is implied into everything.
@dsayone "What I mean from it, is that when I play say 4 sixthtenth notes together, the bass drum isn't able to breath in between the notes until the last note" - yes! i understand THE ISSUE IS YOUR TUNING AND TECHNIQUE!
@dsayone i am not the drum nazi lol! do what you will, just understand there are techniques to tuning and proper 4 way independence, feel and finess! when a bass drum is used (played) the way it is meant to be used & tuned properly, you will have no issue gaining what sound you want but remember.. to understand "what sound" you want that actually works the kit's tone is a true time taking art form in it self! many drummers talk "tone and sound" with no true understanding of the subject....
@candywarheads72 Watch it buddy I'm drummer and I'll drop a cymbal on your cord LOL the blanket can deaden the overtones and or rings of the heads giving the sound more punch a good example is the intro for Sabath's "Ironman" The lights are pretty cool, kind of late 70's 80's and just I played my first paying gig at 12 years old in 1967
Are you part Asian? because that is awesome!!!! :D Its always been a drummers dream to have a light up drum set. xD Even though, I am a Bassist for my band. But, its definitely awesome to see something unique every "BLUE" moon. :D
maybe if you cared what your drums SOUND like instead of what they LOOK like this video wouldn't suck. you should definitely spend money on more lights though...
@born2drum1624 practice what you preach, douchebag. and the drums are a musical instrument, not a fucking christmas light display. lf you care this much about what your drums look like, your just a tool, plain and simple
@PhunkYouInTheEye your so close minded. If you want to get your point across to someone, or "teach" them about what they are mistaken in, being a dick isnt the way. So what if he likes lights on his Kit... shit. ar eyou against double pedals too? and triggers? and multi tracking? and digital recording instead of analog.... are u against driving a car and rather just walk? dude. go rethink ur life. your welcome.
@born2drum1624 HAHA my goal wasn't to teach, but i guess for you, class is in session. consider an ear. now consider an eyeball. an ear is not an eyeball. when you hit a drum it makes a sound and you can record it any number of ways that all influence how it reaches a listener's ear. all the things you mentioned deal with sound, not sight and i have no problem with any of them. have you ever gone to a concert and closed your eyes for an entire song? might want to rethink how you perceive music
@amylynn246 Baby wants to play too! She can play steady quarter notes and have her own kid drum set. Give me a break, it was only for a short period. I'm lucky if I get a chance to play the drums at home once a month now.
@dsayone Just a quick FYI, if you don't know, symbols are usually 100-125dB, which causes permanent hearing damage in young children even when it isn't sustained
@PhysxTV 100-125 in a controlled room meant to have a large amount of reverb. and the player is hitting the cymbal at a recording quality strength. obviously this guy wasnt beating on his kit and hes probably not paying to have a controlled room. not really in anyones budget. im sure his kid isnt deaf..
@dsayone it won't be immediately deafening but it will definitely contribute to further hearing damage and, if done often enough, will cause them to lose clarity very quickly. Other than that it's very cool and you did a great job with it.
@dsayone Hey man, you should post a tutorial on how to do this -- I for sure would appreciate it, and I am sure a lot of people would. Even a summary of what needs to be done or just the hard parts... would be so sick. I am getting a clear acrylic kit within the next month and I want to do something like this.
@gilliboy007 The controller comes from a LED light up t-shirt and is small and runs on AAA batteries and is place in the towel inside the bass drum. The power from it is a bit weak. There are now new controllers out there, that are better suited for this.
@ngalang36 I used the ones found on ebay under sound activated t-shirt. I just took the controller from the t-shirt and added more power to it because the 3volt provided by the batteries wasn't making the LEDs bright enough.
hey mate, im thinking of doing something along the lines of this for my HSC art major work, how much did this all cost and was it hard to setup and figure out?
@mainey000 Hey there, don't know how much LEDs you need for your project but a 5 meter RGB LED strip and controller with remote goes for about $50 on ebay, a little more if you order a 10 meter strip. Are you putting lights on a drum set? The LED strips are made so you can cut them. As for the vu meter, you can find it on ebay as well. Just look up sound activate t-shirt and use the controller from that. It has wires coming out of the box that you can cut up and join to low voltage lights.
@r3ddr4g0n87 The Vu meter came with a built in microphone with a volume control. I have modified it since the video to add more power and replace the microphone with a flexible vibration sensor piezo taped to the drum head. The piezo cost under $3.00. The microphone was picking up sounds from the other drums.
so, i know it was just a test but let's see some f'ing blasting and see this shit LIGHT UP

@ZildjianSeRG The light is set up with a trigger, like the ones on electronic drums and does not pick up other sounds but the bass drum.

They sell the LEDs in 5 or 10 meters in length.
Use 2πr to figure the circumference and length needed.
