  • This vid went viral on Bogota

  • I really like these lick lessons. This one reminds me a bit of Never going back again from Fleetwood Mac. Really cool song btw, thanks again Justin.

  • lol the end!

  • Has noone noticed the lick at the end... after 6:58?! Hahaha Justin nice one. ;))

  • Hey beautiful SG Justin. Btw, what's that on your headstock? Is that to add mass?

  • you look like Angus Young with that hat

  • Only catching up with this now. Excellent.

  • this lick is used by Slash in the first solo of Nightrain!!!

  • truly the best free online lessons, dave wiener is another good one, and marty schwartz, you three have all made me the player i am today. 3 years later.

  • What is a 6th ? I mean, is there a helpful website out there with music theory questions and answers ? I've been playing for a few years but I need to look up 6th.

  • @StringsAndVerses

so lnow what key and the notes of that key

    He said "A" mixolydian

know those notes in that scale THEN just go 6 notes "in between"

if one finger is playing the "A" note then count off 6 notes from that

  • Justin, it's a privilege to watch these videos. Really superb. Peace and love brother. :)

  • so do we mute the strings in b/t?

  • 101 to llike !

  • this is what jimmy page does in heartbreaker?

  • i lol'd

  • @JustinSandercoe LOL, Justin, I think he misunderstood couple of things.

Guys, Justin has his stuff organized pretty well, just check the site. I guarantee that his products are well organized as well and don't need any further "organization." Both, free stuff on site and low price products, are also always easily accessible and very fast to download. So there really is no need for (well intended, I don't doubt) fans' torrent distribution. Personally I prefer the ISO downloads from the site.

  • Two big thumbs up for the Lick of the Week concept! Please keep them coming.

  • tnx for the lesson, every day something new to learn

  • nice one! clip on tuners are so accurate too :D

  • Wow, this is getting deep.

Justin, your site is awesome. Although I miss my porn, my guitar playing has improved more in the past 2 years than in the previous 10.

You are the second best thing that ever happened to me. Thanks from Soulsearcher.

  • just woke up... now i have to work 8 hours and starting college tomorrow morning... this sucks i need time to myself. how am i ever gonna get good at guitar when im so *#^*ing busy :((((((((((((((

  • @ericsbuds you'll make time for it if you really enjoy it :)

  • love the lesson. but the faces you made at the end were scary!

  • Cunning.

  • Hi Justin,

Thanks for your videos and Happy New Year ! :)

  • Thanks for your free videos. Been watching for almost a year now. I just ordered your Intermediate Foundation DVD set.

  • theory part pls

I understand they are in the A mix mode but why is the A7 that goes along with these notes

is it that the mixolydian generally goes with the 7th chord?

thanks to anyone who can clear that up

  • very much appreciated

  • the middle part of the lick sounds like CCRs fortunate son... good job J.

  • One of the most interesting lessons I've ever seen! I love your new weekly series, I really appreciate you being so creative about coming up with new ideas for cool lessons everytime =)

  • HAHHAHA!!! I loved the ending!!! Justin you should always include these short clips at the end of your lessons.....o and by the way another awesome lesson....

  • Another great vid as usual justin. i wonder if you could explain the theory behind it, saying it cam from the mixolydian mode has made me want to understand this haha. I understand modes and that mixolydian is the 5th mode so are you basically going along the mode play each note and the 6th or minor 6th relating to that note depending on which is in the scale? ive tried to work it out from what you are doing but ass im quite new to modes it is kind of blowing my mind. thanks for your vids. Danny

  • A lot of Thanks from all your fans here in the Philippines. You're lessons are true and meant really to teach and not to showcase personal talent.. Hope we'll have more of you in the coming days...

  • Justin, your playing is amazangly natural. And it´s not that hard, that´s a plus. You´re a wonderfull teacher, my first video of yours was a video lesson for Seek & Destroy, a long way back. Good luck with your classes. From Brazil.

  • This sounds very Pete Townshend-ish for some reason.

  • what song is that the intro to at 2:47?

  • @Richie9630 Fortunate Son, by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

  • Why am I picturing Vietnam movies when he is doing this?

  • @tosspiece69 Hmm, yeah, the lick does resemble Fortunate Son, by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

  • I can't find LK listed in your lessons index?? Can anyone help?

  • Great stuff, Justin! Seems really useful. Looks like you're using pick and fingers to pluck out the notes in the intervals; a bit of info on your right hand technique would be awesome. Cheers!

  • Justin, man we can't thank you enough for all the great lessons. Very awesome lesson this one. And the outtake at the end had me and my wife laughing so hard. You should do a bloopers video

  • Hey Justin ... I started a forum thread discussing this 'playing in 6ths' fun just recently ... in the tips & tricks section. Prescience??

    :-)

  • A GREAT example of this is the end of "Heart of Life" by John Mayer, check it out! But the song is in Db and the ending in Ab. John Mayer is a great blues player.

  • "teaching the world to play....

REMEBER: the web site contains... etc...."

    "REMEBER" justin? :D

  • easy thing if one knows what he´s doing. great lesson.

  • Epic outtake at the end, thanks for the lesson!

  • Great as per usual Justin xD

  • Sorry but your tattoo is so ugly I have a hard time looking at your fingers. Just kidding.

Anyways, do you regret doing that tattoo or does it have some kind of deep meaning?

  • Thanks so much for all of your lessons
