  • It's not the victims fault they believe abuse is love. It's the nature of the abusers "poison." It comes in small doses at first... Like if you throw a frog into boiling water it jumps right out, but if you put it in cool water then gradually turn up the heat, it will boil to death. Poisoners exploit the vulnerabilities of their targets, who then become "undocked" from the Truth. The cycle can't be broken without the victim's help, but the ONLY person responsible for the violence is the abuser.

  • wow, how bizzare is that Grant lol. There I was just rambling off just a little of what has happened and trying to sort my jumbled thoughts about the whole situation.

Thank you once again for your lovely words you really are a super super nice soul :)

  • I am so sorry to hear that. Im genuinely distressed by what youve just been talking about, and I want you to know my thoughts are with you.

Situations like this are so hard, becuause they clearly cant see how destructive this relationship is - the effect its having not only on themselves, but on others like yourself too.

All you can really do I guess is show your love and protection, despite how wearying it may be...

If it means anything, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • Hello Grant, how did you become so wise for someone so young? Your words were very comforting and I thank you for them. The young lady or man ( not sure of your preference ) that gets your heart will indeed be a lucky person indeed.

  • Sorry to hear you have this going on in your family. I am an ACOA (Adult child of an alcoholic) so I know all too well about toxic relationships, I had my fair share when I was younger. Fortunately I found a support group for families of alcohlics which helped me realise my self worth and totally changed my outlook on life and alcoholism. sadly kids of alcoholics are sick too and need just as much help! Well done for posting on this difficult topic (((Hugs)

  • Thank you for your words Rachael. It is a difficult subject but I just had to get them off my chest before I emploded. I love them both so dearly that it breaks my heart to see either of them this way. I am here for them but I wont enable them if you know what I mean. My sister has fallen off the wagon due to the events that have happened but she realises she needs help unlike my niece who just cant see that love shouldnt be like this. Still, only time will tell eh?
