The concrete pipe method is very good and was used by workers building the M6 near Penrith in 1965. Just put a foot of sand in the bottom and sheet it over. Sheet over the pipe ends then install your sleeping bag. No lodgings to pay for and no expense of travelling to work. Some of those blokes paid their mortgages off in two years.

Some of these are seriously cool, and some are just goofy (a hotel in the shape of a DOG?) I've heard of the Ice Hotel, the Teepee Hotel, and the Treehouse Hotel. I don't think I'd want to stay in the Ice Hotel (brrrr!) but the underwater room looks amazing and the mod room in blue and green was rather nice-looking. The hotels that look as if they formed themselves all on their own from wood and stone were interesting, too...but I don't think I'd want to stay in a renovated concrete pipe!
