So u went twice to the zoo and it was enough proof that Lucy was a "happy" elephant?

She's been alone most her life. She has respiratory problems and slept enough on concrete to develop athritis from it. She's had a trainer to "discipline" her and control where she should move and when.

Live her enslaved life and tell me how happy you'll be.

And which Indian zoo was she in? How do you know she would have died there if Edmonton zoo didn't intervene?

PART 2:

-Lucy was alone for 12 yrs (!!!) before Samantha joined her. In 2007, the latter was moved. Lucy was alone AGAIN.

- Oosterhuis is paid by zoos/circuses to testify in their favor. He defended the infamous Hawthorn Co. whose elephants were confiscated by the USDA. He deemed 2 circus elephants healthy to perform 2 days before they died of TB.

Besides, if Valley zoo care for LUCY so much why won't they allow an independent medical team to examine her? What's to lose?

Part 1:

If an ele. got arthritis from sleeping on concrete most of her life and then felt grass under her feet for the remaining few years, you can't blame the grass for her ruining her feet!

The eles at TN died from diseases they had ALREADY inherited in captivity.

They were moved to the sanctuary to merely spend their last stages of their life w/ dignity.

I.e On 2500 acres. With other eles. Without chains or bullhooks and "trainers". On their OWN terms.

Yes, u don't mention arthritis b/c u choose to ignore the existence of this extremely common painful disease in captive elephants.

You spew the same rubbish about the keepers and Oosterhuis. Even after I dismiss his credibility. You don't answer a single question directly.

The fact is, if world famous researchers like Dame Daphne Sheldrick, Surendra Verma and Joyce Poole want Lucy in TN, then it is the best choice for Lucy.

They know elephants better than Oosterhuis can dream of.

If the Valley zoo provides the best care as you claim they do, what's to hide? What's to fear?

WHY WON"T THE VALLEY ZOO ALLOW AN INDEPENDENT MEDICAL TEAM TO EXAMINE LUCY?

Civil? Ur bias to the zoo is costing an innocent captive her life. So u're more savage than u give urself credit for.

I was born in Africa and have worked in Asia as well. Don't lecture me on human/elephant conflict buddy, that convenient age old excuse. The wilderness is shrinking, but still exists. Ecologists like Surendra Verma fight to keep elephants in protected reserves with successful outreach programs at a fraction of the cost zoos incur to house 1 elephant.

Your zoos/circuses with Oosterboy and his ilk are simply raking in the spoils from habitat loss and poaching. They spend millions of dollars(equivalent to GDP of many countries) to keep 1 elephant when an entire game industry and 3rd world ppl could have been supported instead.

I pity you. U don't realize natural habitats ultimately help people. To thrive, they need wild animals as much as wild animals need them.

I'm as tuned to reality as the respected ecologists fighting for Lucy's liberation from Valley zoo. It's you who's blind.

Emotionally and maybe even physically blind considering you can't access Oosterhuis's shameful history thru a simple google search.

I'm not surprised, u can't expect much from a caged, pro-captivity mentality.

Valley zoo won't let an independent team check Lucy's health status. Perhaps, they don't want the world to know Lucy IS healthy enough to move.

No Hohenwald sanctuary ele has been reported aggressive to an unhealthy newcomer. Ur comment was an insult to an ele's sense of compassion.

Lucy isn't travelling to Mars or by foot to TN. Vets will monitor her constantly and ensure she is comfortable.

Part 2:

The elephant, Winkie who trampled her keeper at the sanctuary was already diagnosed with PTSD in CAPTIVITY. She was abused, beaten and made to live in fear EVERY second of her young life.

She attacked ONLY when a keeper inspected her eye. Ever wonder why only the eye? According to Joyce Poole, a world famous ele. conservationist, the action triggered a painful memory of abuse from Winkie's past.

No, u don't want what is best for Lucy. U want what is best for the zoo. It's crystal clear from your comments.

There is NOTHING funny about this video. I only see unhappiness, lonelyness and stress. When one is truly respecting wildlife, one should provide the animal the live he/she NEEDS! Elephants, especially females need their families, the company of other elephants. This is willfully torture! When your respect animals, you don't offer them a life YOU think it is enough...!

The average zoo visitor apparently visits Lucy for 30 seconds - for this we keep her caged in concrete and boredom for her whole life.

This rocking back and forth means Lucy is stressed because she spends 17 1/2 hours per day alone. She needs to go to a sanctuary, PAWS in California or The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee where she can be with other elephants and roam thousands of acres
