I don't think Roy Andersson's intention comes even close to humour...I think the only joke to be had is a crude one by Babymech2 and his description of the World of Glory as a side-splitter. It's not a comedy and if one were to perceive it as such, I wouldn't be using the word "sophisticated" to describe that person's sense of humour.
@shemadavid I can only assume that you are talking out of ignorance, and haven't actually seen the movie. The rest of the movie, where the people in the truck come back as ghosts and have to help a talking baby (voiced by a 50-year old Jewish man) and his puppy sidekick save a family of bald eagle chicks, is a laugh riot. You should really do a minimum of research before you give your opinion, even if it's 'just' on the internet.
I can understand the humour. I am from America. But this video has a sinisterly sick humour about it. I dislike the beginning because that little girl's screaming sticks into my head and i hear it all through the day. Thats why i mute that part.
I find this video very funny, the awkwardness of it all, the background noise, the trouble they have putting the ramp back into the truck, it's very awkward, but that's the humor. Much like "Happiness" or "There will be Blood" there is comedy in the cracks, if your looking.
Swedish comedy can be very subtle. I am sorry if you thought the clip was boring; perhaps you prefer American slapstick comedy instead. I hope you do not feel tricked; I intended my comment for a more sophisticated, Swedish audience who would be used to intelligent comedy like the Channel of Goetha, for example.
I am pretty sure Roy Andersson didn't mean this to be hilarious. Sophisticated yes but shame on you to call this hilarious if you ask me. there is a slight line between black humour and contention of humanity and Anderssons other works have been more of a black humour :)
@Babymech2 “The opening scene of World of Glory is a reconstruction of events during the Second World War and of the total brutality which marked "ethnic cleansings". That term did not exist then, it was called the "final solution", but meant the extermination of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals and political dissidents.Human beings were put to death by, among other methods, gassing in diesel-driven, closed vans.” —Roy Andersson
@Anquetil79: You do not sound like a tough grizzled old soldier but some kind of dandified Nancy boy, who is afraid of wars! You are indubitably no sea-dog but the sort of pasty landlubber I have always despised. I'll warrant, the most exciting thing that has happened to you limpid prawn in a whole year, was the day when you forgot to put sugar in your porridge!

Roy Andersson and Isvan Borbas are just incredible. The best short movie ever made. I am very influenced from this stile. Parfait!
