  • As midnight toker tells it, 'phi phenomenon' refers to something different. This is more like 'Beta' phenomenon. However I believe the academic distinctions are wrong, and that both beta and phi should be considered the same basic process, so essentially it is just a matter of semantics

  • The phi phenomenon is when all the lights are on except one, and the unlit light goes one by one around the circle, it gives the illusion that a dark spot is travelling around a circle.

    Beta phenomenon is when 1 light goes on at a time (say in a circle) making it look like the one light is travelling around the circle.

  • What exactly is the phenomenon here? Blinking lights?
