  • They are Tai Lue from Sipsongbanna in Yunnan Province, China

  • @145cvb spot on

  • I like this traditional music even know not of the lylics, great.

  • i think they are shan people from china border

  • so cute and should keep to the new generations.

  • Are there any new songs from these singers currently??????

  • Great...Shan culture is very interesting...all the more reason to learn Lao.

  • Dam if I am still in burma. new year gone in shan state.

  • This are the original Laos people. They're speaking fluently Laotian words. Just because the are living in up in the north doesn't make them Laos. They are Laos, Culture and Language wise. It carry's on generation to generations started from their roots all the way down ChiagMai Lao - Luang Prabuang Laos and it ended as Laos today.

  • hey i dont bliev the sipsongpanah ppl called themselves Laos ...u r wrong, i heard they called themselves Tai or Dai sound like that....our languages very close by pronunciation & root words, single syllabic, loan words most from Pali & Sanskrit, impact of Buddhism...culture is the cousin to Shan, Laos, Shiangtung, Thais,...same family.

  • My mom is Dai (or) shan from burma she away talk about Dai people to me. I don't understand Dai language but I like to listen.

  • if Thai, Tai, Dai mean Khon...how can Shan ppl called themselves Tai, Dai or even Thai..how about Tai music what 's mean? ...lots of Laos try to tell me Tai, Dai , Thai means khon....Tai Yai ...mean the big guy, big man...not Thai in the big group or original Thai...please some historian can help me i wonder alots...& many Laos try to make me believe no Thai race on earth...only Laos as the biggest nation in the area...pls help, help. thanks.

  • @shawkarn

Read the wikipedia, it'll tell you all the history.

  • @frogjumpy dear shan people you be proud of your self ,and you are the same as lao . iam a lao person we both speak same language and understand each other 100 percent . for thai people i coudnot speak much and under stand thai . it is a very very big different , think about that. thanks

  • Because the Laotians are already being brainwashed by the French indoctrination for some times and are now having very, very hard time to except the truth that Tai is their race.

  • language tell your nation or race, behaviors tell your family, it is lao.

  • it isnt Lao They are SHAN ppl or TAI YAI!! u think u r original?? who are u?

  • @tawanwalking HOW ABOUT YOU? WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

  • @viewsriras

I know who I am,,,but if ya want to know about my ancestors I can tell you a little bit :)

    so How about u?

  • @tawanwalking TRY TO APPROACH EACH OTHER BY INTRODUCING OURSELF. WE SHOULD COME FROM THE SAME ROOT......

ARE YOU FROM SIPSONGPANNA OR FROM SHAN STATE?

I AM FROM LANEXANG. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME......

  • @viewsriras

    I'm from Chiang Mai

  • @viewsriras

    I'm from Chiang Mai

or Lanna, back in the days.

  • @tawanwalking lao people always think their the original and claim all tai came from lao people. their stupid...lao came from tai not tai came from lao. lao people r confuse and so bitter towards everyone that they have to claim everything as their the original to feel good about themself...

  • @MrPhon1984 - We not stupid, or bitter. Stupid is you since you can not accept difference of understanding. Just because you can read and write does not make you smarter than us. I can not stand people always picking on Laos.

  • @vongsengdara

you should read carefully what MrPhon1984 said ..it's doesn't mean all of Laos..

It's only Lao ppl who thinks about other tribes who similar to them are Lao!!

  • @tawanwalking - Who really cares? Just knowing your roots and your past is not going to put food on your table. Your past is like a big rock hanging around your neck while you are swimming in the ocean of life. It will kill you if you hang on to it.

  • @vongsengdara

Smart person know how to hanging that Roots !

and its will help you survive from the storm in Ocean... think about it many directions of knowledge.

  • @tawanwalking yes, u hang it in the basement and turn off the light when you come up and go out.

  • @vongsengdara

just look at the sky... Polaris still out there.

  • @tawanwalking stilling hungry, can any spare some change?

  • @vongsengdara

go to the jungle to hunt some wild animals.. go to the ocean to catch some fishes...

go to the theatre and ask Johny Depp to join his Pirates crew.... or stop using internet and but food then ...

  • @tawanwalking - exactly, the past is useless, your comment is directed towards the future. Food and the finding of food is future oriented action. You unconsciously admitted to my first point. Who really cares about the past since it can't be eaten and if you eat the past, it will not fill up. Thank you.

  • @vongsengdara

I eat the past to know what I should eat in the future.

The past could be useless if you don't know how to use it.. + or - ...right?

    maybe we have different vision......

  • @vongsengdara

oh and what was your first point?

and why I didn't admit to your first reply? you should read it again..

That was all about the answer.

  • @tawanwalking - OK whatever. What are you? Oh Mr. walking in the sun? It is hot out there. Use an umbrella. LOL. Anyway, Whether you think the Dai are Lao or vice versa or is irrelevant. What it is is what it is. Just listen the song, look at the architecture. Look at everything. It is one and the same. Ask your dad if he is a part of you and ask you if you are a part of the father. In on family line, it matters not what you call yourself, it is only is one and the same. Hello?

  • @vongsengdara

you should tell your people like Mr/Mrs kham20091 ...

why you try to judge me , instead of your Lao ppl? lol..

I don't use an umbrella becoz I've my hat ... lol and how about you what are?

yes it is what it is... and what are you try to talking about dude? hahha..

like I saide "Smart people know how to use their Roots?" it's clear enough...

I don't refuse if you say we are from the same root... but right now we just represent a different name.. that's it man!

  • @vongsengdara

oh and you try to joking about my account name .... that's show me something ...lol

  • @vongsengdara you lose we are tai NOT LAO

  • @kikuyaki - true we are. However, we are not THAI. THAI are siamese with a name change. We are tai, Lao is just a nickname. Our real name is tai, I agree. For example, you are Kikuyaki in wherever you are, then you come to America and call yourself and John Brooklyn, basic name change over time, but still tai. Let get serious now, did you see those naked girls in the video, dammmmm.

  • @kikuyaki - can read it. sorry, please translate to English. Again sorry. Did you or Did you not see those naked girls in the video, dammmmm.

  • @tawanwalking - Also look at the video. it is water splashing festival to celebrate the birth of the buddha, we call it new year. Yes, I think we all do this. Are you THAI with a capital TH always looking to put down Laos and its people. At least tell us what group you are so we can know your intention behind your remarks.

  • @vongsengdara

hahha you talking about Thai ppl looking down at Lao.. that's your point dude.. I can't help you from that..

it depends on what you thinking about me or Thai ppl. why you not tell me , what group you are?

I'll tell you something,, I see Thai , Lao, Shan people, Tai people in China, Tai people in India...and we are from almost the same roots... just represent different name and country.. clear?

  • @tawanwalking - ok agreed, good talking to you.

  • @vongsengdara

it's depend on How do you using it!!

  • @tawanwalking give me some money please.

  • @vongsengdara

and if u not really care,,, why you not telling your Lao ppl either ??

  • @tawanwalking i can't really tell people how to live. They are all adults.

  • @kikuyaki - I am glad you saw the naked girls too. (:->>). I wish I can read it. But lets just pretend that I can read it and that we are all in good communication. Thank you.

  • Deaun Hoak Tai Huor...Let's Celebrate!!!

  • @taimuongtean Again lao can live every where they still lao .but they can be another citizen of the country where they live in. such as alot of lao living in U.S.A. AND CANADA , FRENCH. THEY Are still lao. chinese live all over the world they still chinese. IT is not only lao and chines , please open your eyes wider.

  • @mkommany43, please don't be in denial that your race is Tai.

I know it's sad that your elders never share this tale with you Laosians.

  • @utubb100

  • I wonder why their new year is "Deaun hog" (6)? Should'n it be in April which is Deaun ha (5)? Somebody please tell me.

  • It is on April for whole world calender.Thai and Lao month is Deaun 5,but for tai month is Deaun 6. Tai month is 1 month ahead of Thai and Lao month and 2 month ahead of world calender.Tai lue people call Deaun 6 sungkun dai ma hose lail is mean like, here come time for New Year or New Year is here now.

  • They are Shan but have same gene as Lao blood! Yeh, I think Lao ppl. came from there. That's much be Laos Root thousand years ago., Because Laotian were from China.

The Shan speak like lao language. They cook and eat like Lao food. They make "Mok Pah" and many of their dishes same as lao dishes.

  • are they shans from burma...?? i have never seen those type of shan costumes.. :)

  • This is shan who live in China

they never forget that they are Shan people. Same Shan people different place. Shan people are all separate every where because of the enamy. They are all still loving each other. Don't forget that Shan people have alot of similar costume but same language.

  • more thai ler song from houngkham106 so good at him

  • How the fawk lue peeps made it on youtube?? lol I'm half lue/lao!!

  • I like to visit kyaing tong is it an interest place how big is the town. is there any place of interest that i can visit or see. how to get there. do i need a visa. do people there understand english or chinese. shan people was once from china am i right.

  • If you come to Shan State like tachileik, Kyaing Tong or Mong Lar...even those you are loas or Esarn. They can easily understand you....... but dont go near china border...they like to speak Chinese...

  • Ever those, we have a difference voice. We used the same words with Tai......I am Tai lue in Burma but I can understand this song easily than burmese. And I still have a relative in Simsongpanna and in Thailand.

I can easily understand and speak of Tai, Laos and Northern Thailand Easily.

I can say that this song is Tai Lue, not Laos or Tai Yai.....I swear to God with my five fingers.( Laos song is similar to Esarn or Looktong song. ) Or Bangkok people called it as Baan Nok Song

  • I'm not a Tai, Lao or Thai but I agree with you that this song is not Tai Yai song. It is Tai Lue song from Sipsongpahna. I can understand Tai Lue accent more than Tai Yai. Does Tai Lue and Tai Yai share the same scripts?

  • I am Tai Lue, who live in Tachileik,Shan State - Myanmar. my 1st generation is simsongpanna and moved down to Kyaing Tong.

In Shan State, They are 3 kinds of Tai, burmese people called us SHAN not Tai.

    1. Tai Yai - Originally from Kyain Tong and a lot of people lived in Chiang Mai of Thailand.

    2. Tai Lue - Originally from Simsongpanna, moved down to Kyaing Tong and finally in Tachileik.

    3. Tai yong - Near Laos border..

  • can someone pls tell me what's'tar sho'(sound something like that),means is it a shan language.

  • so kool song ,I love you my hometown. break ,break, break, breakon the gary stones..come on ,dai, duai or shan people.

    love you life,love you firends.

  • if they dont eat STICKY RICE they not laos..hahahahahaha

  • it's because tai have longer exposure to chinese culture. they eat long grain like chinese and so does bangkok. whereas lao are ai lao and have less chinese influence.

  • Tai or Shan people do eat sticky rice in the morning as their breakfast... also in Northern and North Eastern Thailand...

  • วันปี๋ใหม่ สุขสบายใจ๋

  • Truly talent people and a culture to admire!!!

  • Thanks for sharing. I am Laotian in NYC and love the see more of the music and cultures posted on youtube...Beautiful song and Beautiful Culture. Thanks again!!!

  • Pee Mai Maa Hodt Leo... These are typical Lao words. I understand them quite well.

  • Mekong river is still called Mae Nam LanXang in Sip Song Pan Nah as of today May/2008. Because it belongs to LanXang Kingdom.

  • in lao history they never mention anything about mekong being call lan xang river. its been and still is call mekong.

  • So, part of N. Vietnam,Shan State,Laos, Thai-Esan, part of Cambodia, and Sipsongpannah = Lan Xang Kingdom? Right, anyone?

  • yes,y r 1000 times right.

  • no shan was never part of lan xang.

  • I want to visit Sibsongpanna I can speak the same language

  • it is too beautiful culture

  • This is not Shan or Burmese Tai, this is Tai Lue in Sipsongpanna during Boon Dearn Hok Songkran or Boon Pii Mai

  • Ya, it's Tai-Nuer from Sipsongpanna. Anyway,Tai are the same.Don't categorize or Tai will not be united and Tai would be scattered.

  • Mouan tea tea peenong sipsongbanna ,kop jai kop jai.....

  • so u mean Sipsongbanna used to be part of Laos??

  • more like Laos used to be part of Sipsongpanna. Muang Sing former capital of Sipsongpanna, now it is Jinghong or Chianghong

  • Fews century later LanXang Kingdom was established due to Tai-speaking (royal courts, monarchy, etc)from Nanchao Kingdom began to filter down the Mekong all the way to today Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, part of Vietnam, etc thus Muang Swa or Luang Prabang was established as capital of Lanxang Kingdom by the Tai or Dai Kingdom.

  • Ai Lao did not come from Tai. Tai came from Ai Lao. Pre 221 B.C., Ai Lao had a kingdom called Pai Ngai with a capital called NongSai around the same time as the first chinese Qin Dynasty. Nanjao was when Ai became known as Tai (around 650A.D.)in the end of the second period, Han Dynasty. Ai means people and Tai means freepeople. Before Nanjao, under the Han, Ai Lao had a kingdom of Nanxang (later changed to Lanxang)

  • Kun Borom (ai lao), king of Nanjao, founded the Sawa (Luang Prabang)in the indochina peninsular. Kun Borom's grandsons found the Tai kingdoms that we know as tai people. Ai Lao was free from the chinese that is why Ai was change to Tai. Whereas Ai Lao people had already lived in the indochina prior to this change in name. That is why Ai Lao is now only known as Lao. vietnamese still call us ai lao today.

lao, shan, tai, li, zhuang etc. are desecedant of ai lao shan (people sun mountain land)

  • to be historically correct the language family should be change from Taikadai to something along the line of Ai-Taikadai. Shan and Lao have a similar flag for a reason, the white circle represtent the sun(star)!

It would be more correct to call ourselves the Ai tribes not the Tai tribes if we want to trace our roots to pre Qin Dynasty China and not the end of Han Dynasty(almost a millennium later).

  • Muang Swa existed before Lan Xang. Muang Swa was Ai Lao of Nanxang. Jao Fa Ngum was a prince from Muang Swa and regrouped the Ai Lao people with the help of the Khmer and renamed it Lanxang and Luang Prabang after the name of the statue. The name Ai Lao was changed to Lao. During Jao Fa Ngum there was a distinction made between Tai and Lao, which shouldn't have been because we are the same people. The effect is still felt today. Tai came from Ai Lao. Neigbor country still call Lao, Ai Lao.

  • o ok but wat happened, how come they became part of china??

    do they speak Lao??

    we are very different somehow..

  • They speak Tai, where the language of Lao, Thai, Shan Burmese originated from(the language is similar). If you travel to Northern Laos, you will hear language difference, compared to Southern Laos. Northern Laos speak similar to Northern Thailand and the people are light skinned as well. They became part of China during the Mongol & Yuan dynasty. Tai Kingdom was not able to defend off all of its invaders (there were many feud/wars going on as well). Remember Kublai Khan and Genghis Khan?

  • yes i undertsand that too.. m from south of Lao ( Savanaket ) if i spell it right.. and few weeks ago, i watched history of Sipsongbanna and they said the same thing as u, but they said not so sure about we same from there though..

  • some songs I can understand a large bulk of it(like this one), some I cannot understand at all, what's with it?

  • The writing of the tai of Yunnan is called "to korm" still use in laos and esan by the monks usually written on the palm leave.

  • Again, this is NOT Shan. This is Tai Sipsongbanna (Tai Lue Sipsongbanna). I know the singer haha. Someone should edit the descriptions to Tai or Dai Sipsongbanna haha

  • This is celebration of Tai Lue ( Sipsongpana ) New Year which was in 2nd week of April.

These people are part of minority Lao living in China.

There are also Tai Neua which is very close to Tai Lue

    by traditions, and language.

  • yeah, it's not burmese shan, it's god damm communist shan. anyway, song's good.

  • wtf. u don't even know about shan ...... they against the burmese communist all everyday to get freedom.. u fucking dunmass..

  • Fucking communist shan: There is no communist in burma, you fucking sucker communist.

  • probably u r shity burmese ..

don't even talk shit.. unless u know about shan.. u stupid fuck.

  • You are not the real shan. you are the mother fucking communist chinese fucking shan, that mean you are half communist chinese, half shan bastard.

  • oh yeah..! why don't; you pull ur pant down and start jerking off.. and call ur mom at the same time and then tell ur mom "hey a may, my tiny penis is so wet now, what should i do ?" i bet she will tell u "becasue you are so fucking stupid Chinese Burmese. that why ur dick is so tiny and small size like ur Father."

  • Dude, this is NOT even communist shan haha. What you gonna do about it if they are communist? haha Too bad they are not shan burmese or communist.

  • hey sschan88888, answer my question. u stupid pussy..

  • i love this song..

  • I hope kon Dai (Lao) hao never assimilate into Chinese culture , these are my ancesters from Sipsongbanna. Sabie Dee My Brother & Sisters In Sipsongbanna Stay Lao Forever

  • you mean stay Ai Lao forever, Ai Lao is the correct name for Lao people. That name is thousands of years old and Lao people are still referred to as Ai Lao by neigboring people.

  • oh another thing sipsongbanna people are not our ancestor they are the same as lao or ai lao. our ancestry trace back further than Nanchao (650 AD) and further back than Ai Lao Kingdom (pre 500 B.C.). The Li of Hainan are from the Ai Lao group not Tai group and they are 3000 years old. They migrated from the mountain north of Yunnan. If you look at Lao history you can trace our ancetry up the Mekong to the modern Tibet plateau to Namtso lake (NamU in lao history)That is the origin of Ai Lao.
