tanzania is a beautiful country, but the conditions are so poor, just as most of the population (financially) but compared to america, their simple way of life reminds me of the way life should be. theyre so welcoming and giving too.

Datoga mostly speak a Nilotic language similar to the Kalenjin of Kenya, but some of them speak another language called Iraqw, which is an Afro-Asiatic language just like Arabic.

As a graduate student I spent some time in this village with the Datoga people. The patriarch who called himself John told us a story through our professor/interpreter, that when he heard about the events of 911 he sent his oldest son (one of70 children) to the US embassy in Dar es salem the captital of Tanzania to donate 100 cattle to the American families who lost loved ones. I must admit to tears.
