Upon observation, the officer finds a keg. At this point, the officer can rationally infer there may be alcohol in the keg. Given the absence of kids stumbling drunk with alcohol on their breath or marked alcohol containers, the officer barely has enough evidence to warrant questioning the individuals about alcohol consumption.
In a search warrant, they are looking for a specific item or items listed on the warrant. The officer should have a similar checklist in his mind when investigating/searching the party. The officer got a report about a party full of minors that may be drinking.
US Supreme Court, 1968: "Officer must be able to point to specific and articulable facts which, when taken together with rational inferences from those facts, reasonably warrant the intrusion."
A reasonable objective individual places the following police techniques in this order, successively increasing the level of intrusion:

@intelligentjackass Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say the government has the right to monitor all citizens' alcohol consumption. After the cop was informed the keg had root beer, and after not being able to smell any alcohol in the entire fucking party, I think that would cancel out any perceived probable cause to enforce a breathalyzer search.

Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say that murder is illegal. That doesn't mean that murder is legal. Not all laws are based on the Constitution. They had probable cause. There was a party with underage kids and a keg. That is enough to give them probable cause.
