I believe the only marriage that should be allowed is between a man and a woman. For religious reasons which can be ruled out along with the whole you should be able to marry whoever you love. Cause in that case I have a friend who really loves his dog and if you want "TRUE" equality of marriage then he has to be allowed to marry his dog, first cousin need to be allowed to marry for true equality and oh yeah polagamy needs to come back.

No, I am not. In the United States we have what is called a secular government. While your god says one thing, someone else's says another. IF you don't believe in same sex marriage, don't do it.
This isn't a religious fight, its a fight for the right to be legally married. For someone to deny two lovers the recognition of being together, so that they enjoy and can represent their love in that way is fairly inhumane. All these people want is to have the same rights straight folk do.

Quite simply, orion7763, the fact that a person can only be married to one person has existed since the times of King James I of England in English law, upon which United States law was based. So the United States could decide to change this law at any time. Most likely, the ability of one man to financially support multiple wives and very large families is a part of the thinking behind the law, so financial conditions may today be a primary factor in social thinking on polygamy.

This is so sad it's 2009, marriage equality shouldn't even be an issue anymore. Its not a matter of repealing prop 8, but having another initiative in 2010 by winning the support from Californians to vote for same sex marriage. Uhhh....two of the top lawyers in the United States - the ones that argued Bush vs Gore- have joined together to take this to the United Stated Supreme Courts. You all really have no idea what you have done or what you have started do you. You all are truly that clueless.

Wouldn't it though, Syst3m04? This issue is ridiculous. All I see is the religion aspect and those that don't understand, fighting against a minority group. Kind of reminds me of many moons ago... I won't get into specifics, but many civil rights issues that wouldn't have been addressed, if the Supreme Court did not get involved. This is a Civil Rights Issue! It should not be something that the Majority has a right to approve or disapprove.
