  • for anybody considering the surgery, do it! it is well worth the pain and discomfort. (that only lasts for a week or so.) about 3 weeks after my surgery i noticed i could breath again, probably twice as good, it feels great knowing that its over with now and i can enjoy life breathing normally.

  • so is your nose straight now?

    since the septoplasty

  • how did you break your nose?

  • my son is having his surgery on Sept 30th too he is 13

  • How was it? What was the recovery time and how is your breathing now?

  • @SaxChixMusix My breathing now is so much better, I am finding that I can sleep better and when I run, I'm not breathing so much though my mouth as I once did before. The recovery was really annoying because I had to keep gauze pads over my nose for a few days or so. In all it was an ok procedure.

  • You're having it done on 9/30/10, right? Try not to get yourself all worked-up or worried. It's not too bad, just realize your nose is gonna be pretty sore the first day. Kind of feels like someone sanded the septum down with some sandpaper! : S And will feel stuffy, especially if they put packing in it. The kind I got dissolves as you irrigate it 3X a day with Normal Saline. It's the 2nd day after surgery for me, and I'm doing good. Drainage isn't bad. No real nausea post-op.

  • I will have septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery on April,29th. I hope it gonna help me to breath correctly because I dont wanna wear this stupid C PAP when I go to sleep.

  • @didiersalim same thing with me, i hate it! lucky u r gonna have the surgery

  • Dont worry - I am due to have the same thing. My surgeon has been doing ENT surgery for 37 years and has done THOUSANDS of these procedures! He says they are less complicated than tonsillectomies.

  • I was also looking for more information on you tube about septoplasty. My doctor that will be doing the surgery on me said that it will not change the outward appearance of my nose. but, it will help me breathe a lot better. I am still a little scared though because an older friend of mine had the same surgery done and his nose looks weird now. My nose is a bit crooked and I dont want it to look any worse. I hope your surgery goes well and maybe later you could post a video on how it went.

  • I had a septoplasty performed on me on 10/02/09 and it is now 10/4/09 and i feel great. I will be returning to work tomorrow. There was no bruising or swelling for me at all, also ask about getting staples instead of stitches, they all disolve but with the staples your nose doesnt have to be packed with tampon looking things. Its a easy and non painful surgery, i was nervous at first but would do it again. I can already breathe better after 2 days.
