I find the Minecart Rapid Transit system using RS NOR latches daisy chained together to be a more practical way, although it does take longer to build a station.
I guess I have a really silly question, but I have seen this in all the tutorial/demo vid's of minecart dispensers of this sort. You put a minecart on a powered rail and it wisks away.... Am I missing something? I thought minecarts had to be on a downward slant to have momentum? I put a minecart on a powered rail on my SMP server and it just sits there looking at me, nay taunting me! Forgive me if this is a silly question.
@Qsdd0 It is powered, I have tried it exactly like what is shown in this vid, and several other ways. I was told it has to be on an incline (or you have to give it a little shove), was I mislead? All scenarios of having a flat (powered) power rail just has the minecart sitting there waiting for something else to happen.
@SuperCovertop Do you have any mods installed? They could fuck it up. Also a better place to ask the question is on the forums. Yes there's trolls, but some people are much, much better than me.
@MCA: One of your BUD designs works as a clock now that fence gates can be controlled by redstone. It's the third one in the BUD row in your latest circuit gallery download (started for me when I opened the gate under the wool next to the piston). Not sure if bug or feature ;)
Just a tip - in this type of dispenser, as the carts rest on the fence gates (or trap doors) they need to slope to the South or East or they will randomly slip out and dispense.
Just a couple helpful ideas for you here. I believe that the problem with some of the carts not separteing themselves when glitched is because of the monostable circuit, your previous design did not have that and i think the slow opening and closing gates helps to pull them apart. also for your world edit commands you can put //expand 5 5 u and it will expand it up and down 5. you may want to look into the mod "world edit CUI" aswell
If you fed the minecarts from the back of the dispenser instead of from the front, it would "reload" faster since the rear slots are always the ones that empty first. Of course this would be at the expense of more materials and space. Just a thought.
@XboxXXX they also do the same on bukkit snapshot. maybe bukkit team will be able to fix that or maybe 1.2 vanilla will fix it. Just thought it's worth to mention if someone tries to build this dispencer.
Unrelated question, do you have any ideas on how to make a 2x3 piston door, using only pistons that come from underneath? I wamted to install one into my wall so it would be hidden ...
@Gibbonator42685 To make a 2 or 3 high piston door with only pistons that come from underneath, you'd have to use gravel or sand and push them up with regular pistons to close the door, then retract the pistons and let the sand/gravel fall down to open it.
@Gibbonator42685 what can is that you make that the blocks come under the wall up but then you will need pistons to push them there... so i dont think you can...
@zamps99 I don't think it does. I've made 4 of these now on my SMP server, but the one dispenser that is oriented N/S (longways) keeps having carts 'escape' the fence randomly. The other three I've made work fine. Very strange.
I've got some high traffic SMP server stations on my channel. Would be nice to have feedback. I might use this in my next station

2nd guy: put loads of wood
3rd guy: put loads of useless gold
4th guy: put loads of cobblestone
5th guy: put loads of coal
6th guy: put loads of diamonds ( :D ) that go to the lava ( :'( )

@SuperCovertop You have to power it with redstone ;)

it looks good on here but as stated by werybigmonk the carts keep glitching through the fence gates. Nice design, but I wouldnt say smp friendly

In my server of about 150 players average, i found that trap doors are much better then fence gates on higher capacity servers.

Multiplayer version of this is glitchy. Carts keep falling through closed fencegates, form stacks randomly and do not separate stacks...

@werybigmonk yup on vanilla 1.1 they fall through fence gates or trap doors. 1.0.0 seems unaffected (it's on the mcaddict gallery server)

very cool design but takes up a bunch of space. To hide it though you could just put it under your structure.
