  • You've got some amazing dogs there. how do you train them? i've never hunted with dogs before.

  • i ate lynx once its tastes so... strange, but very good. i'd love to try cougar sometime. i hear they make good sausage.

  • do u realy have to kill them? cant u just lock em up somewhere? put em in the zoo. just dont kill them.

  • what poundage of draw weight was used to hunt these mountain lions!

  • great hunting

what pound draw weight and how expensive are these hunts?

  • a 10 year old boy was attacked this week in Idaho by one hes ok but you just dont want to many running around or they will be in our neighborhoods like California.

  • How is the hunting of these regulated? Are they considered over populated?

  • @MrFederalistPapers

Seasons are carefully regulated to maintain an abundant cougar populations and to prevent cougar from overpopulating and threatening livestock growers and local citizens. Hunting of cougar is more necessary than having dog catchers in the cities to catch excess dogs. Hunters enjoy hunting cougar and at the same time they are performing a public service that is carefully managed by wildlife departments across the United States and Canada.

  • Great work michelle!

  • cool

  • I didnt know you eat cougar meet!

  • @LakeTahoeHunting ; Unfortunately your can't hunt Mountain Lions in CA. In fact, you can't hunt much of anything in CA.... That is another of many reasons (Oh many) why I moved out of CA when I retired, into a hunting friendly state. Even if you lived in CA, and hunted a lion in another state, you can't bring them back into CA..... That's too bad because CA is such a nice state.

  • Great video! Thanks for posting!

  • awsome dogs

  • ya thats my life bear, couger, and coon hounting with my 5 hounds in idaho mountains by the way nice dogs

  • Best mt. lion hunting video I've ever seen so far. Good shooting. What's mt. lion meat taste like? Don't you guys eat them?

  • Great Video. I bear hunt in WV but never get good footage.

  • Could a 210 well fit male (human) fend off a 200 pound cougar? Im not afraid of them really I was just wondering?

  • @Wordtoyamom depends. cougars can take down healthy animals much heavier than themselves.

  • those dogs are blood hounds right?

  • @coroneloftheworld the dogs arent blood hounds they are most likelt blue tick's, pointers, or Black and Tans. but what makes me believe that they arent blue ticks is because blue ticks bark less so most likely, pointers, but i htink they are blue ticks because of there color. so idk what to pick.

  • @APJeux they are treeing walker coonhounds

  • @APJeux they are treeing walker coonhounds and i saw one or 2 blueticks..no one uses pointers to hunt cougars

  • So cool!!! Im coming to america!

  • im going for a cougar this week any tips?

  • Great job!

  • Nice shot with a bow!

  • awesome video man go make some more!

  • this reminds me alot of racoon hunting which is big around here, but better

  • I can only imagine in awe the adventures you have been on. I to love a great outdoor pursuit and though I have never hunted Cougar per se, I buy a cougar tag every year and have only had the chance when the season was closed.

I can appreciate the work involved with your line of hunting.

Awesome hunt, great harvests and thumbs up post.

  • wow.. awsome vid.. mabey someday well go down there for a hunt.. would be fun.. keep up the good jobs guys

  • can u even hunt cougars in cal? They are a big problem where i go hunting

  • I think a rifle or pistol would work a little better. I have never been a fan of archery but each there own. I did however enjoy your footage. excellent

  • This is awesome. In Texas anything goes. No closed season. These animals may be hunted at any time by any lawful means or methods on private property. Public hunting lands may have restrictions. A hunting license is required.

  • I am familiar with the CA situation. Unfortunately, the other wildlife in CA is suffering from the over abundance of the unhunted cougar population there.

FYI - Washington also voted to outlaw dogs for cougar hunting, but there were so many attacks that legislators have passed legislation to allow dog hunting to control cougar populations in problem areas. You have so many people out of touch with the real world in CA that you will probably never see cougar hunting there again.

  • We have the same bambi-syndrom problem in WA, but something had to be done for the public safety in the rural areas. Just two days ago my son was called out on a local problem cat by Wildlife Dept.

We actually do most of our cougar hunts in Idaho and Utah, those states still have regular hunting seasons based on sound management science.

  • Some people are very reserved when you point a camera in their direction, I'm sure you can envision what I mean. I can assure you that they were not only excited, but very happy too. Seeing that excitement and happiness people experience is one of the main reasons I enjoy my profession so much.

  • do you eat em?

  • Yes, they are very good eating.

  • i live in C.A and i HATE mountain lions... we arent allowed to hunt them but they are starting to attack people and peoples dogs so that might change soon lol

  • Very nice video! I wish we could still run dogs for cats in WA its only a matter of time the dogs are getting antcy lol but are cat poppulation is blowing up around here so when they do open it up it wont be hard to find one, Happy hunting

    Neil

  • the dogs are lovin it. nice vid wish they still let us use dogs here in WA

  • Question: when u shoot a deer, if you get over to it and its still alive you just slit its throat....what do you do if the cougars still alive? i wouldnt wanna get anywhere near the damn thing o.o

  • this must be one really patient hunt. like...ive been deer hunting and that can take hours and u see deer every day. Cougars.....wow, theyre crafty and rare to see.

  • I remeber we went to Tahoe and a guy was hikeing with a pistol and he said that Mountain lions r so quick that even with a gun it could kill em before he could get a shot off.Which is y i hate when PETA say its not fare when a hunter has a gun and the Mountain lion doesnt.

  • marilynx65: exactly! PETA are clueless, and hypocrites to boot! They kill 99% of the puppies and kitten they take in & promise to find homes for...they kill them in their vans before they even leave the driveway! They don't care about animals...

And the guy witht he pistol was 100% right; even with guns it is HARD to be a successful hunter...trees, tough terrain, fast animals...it's not easy like non hunter think!

  • I'm member of PETA , People Eating Tasty Animals.

  • We run Finley walkers and Cameron Blue tick:)

  • awsome video how much does it cost to get a cougar tag?

  • Great video! I know most people like chop mouth tree dogs but the dog that treed with a short bawl shure sounded good!

  • Great video.

I hope the animal is not wasted though.

  • To most people's surprise cougar meat is very good eating.

  • Realy?Ugh i want to go hunting so bad most of my family hates(with the exeption of my bro and dad).

  • are you a huntress?

  • nice...you should try coming down to argentina... may grandmother has problems with pumas killing her cattel...

  • here kitty kitty

  • Very nice videos. Good bow shooting and amazing prey.

  • Great dogs!!!

  • Hey Thanks, I appreciate the comment....

  • Cougar meat is the best.

  • Man, these animals are just truly amazing.

  • ooooohhhh! nice shot on that first one!!!!!!!!!!

  • you have some good dogs

  • looks like this is SO much fun

  • Great video!

    Nick from Canada!

  • awesome vid...looks like a blast

  • We carry in a backup weapon just in case there is a problem with a bow. But the bows are actually very good at taking game efficiently and quickly.

  • do you guys carry a hand gun or a shotgun just in case? this looks fun but i prefer rifle hunting but bow hunting looks like a better challenge

  • great hunting.

    where at in idaho ???

  • We are in southeastern Idaho

  • AWSOME!!!!

  • great shooting. thats on my to do list

  • Great vid!

  • Nice shooting to you all. I need to do something like that. Good footage and editing. 5*

  • Awesome video man....5* I gotta get me a cougar some day.....if you guys ever start guiding wolf hunters....I'll be there in a flash, I'd sell a kidney to shoot a few of those.

  • Fortunately we are not in one of the areas that's being devastated by wolves.

All the states are ready to manage wolves as soon as the delisting occurs. Season structures and tag quotas are already established and waiting for delisting. I will gladly recommend areas that are over infested where you could hunt once it is legal.

  • From the angle the hunter is looking, if the bullet entered at that spot it would be a good hit. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!

  • why do u have to hit him where the dark spot and the white meet????

  • Man what a thrill....someday I'll get to go. Deffinately on my to do list. Well done!

  • Yes, her cat was the larger of the two. Thanks for watching!!!

  • never ben hunting for cat but it looks like a hell of allot of fun i was wondering whos was biggest it looks like the woman's was lol

  • Great footage, your lucky to have the opportunity,a cougar hunt is my wet-dream!Thanks for the footage :-)

  • hey, can you please tell me the name of the song and the band in this video, it`s so cool, i`ve never heard it before, well thanks and i hope you post soon.

  • I like it too, I'm not sure where the editor got the music, he has several different songs he has used from the same band. If I can find out I will let you know.

  • Thanks to all of you who enjoy our videos, please keep the positive comments coming, let the anti-everything crowd know that there are lots of us who understand that modern game management "hunting" is a valuable tool that pays for the management of all wild animals so that everyone can enjoy it.

Even the huggers are benefitting from hunting, they just aren't smart enough to realize it.

    Regards, BPO

  • have you heard of many people takin mountain lions without dogs (i myself have wanted to try but dont have dogs, im also a native idahoan)

  • Yes it can be done, but it requires some research, scouting, and lots of luck. There are 3 methods which have worked for hunters I know. First, do some research, find an area with a high cougar density.

  • (1.) Find fresh tracks in fresh snow and walk them until you catch the cat, he'll try to circle back but you have to keep after him until you get the shot. (2.) Get into an area with fresh sign and use a fawn distress call, be very careful, do this with a partner, sit back to back when you call so all sides can be watched as you are now the hunted. (3.) Find a deer or elk killed by a cougar and watch it for the cat to come back and eat, be there morning and evening. Good Luck!!!

  • thanx a lot

  • I have seen three cougars shot without dogs. One responded blindly to a set of synthetic rattling antlers from Wal-Mart, total dumb luck. Another I saw killed over a sheep carcass. And another I saw taken in North Idaho up Prospector Creek near Avery when it responded to a Cow Elk call. This is in more than 30 years of running around the hills of Idaho and Washington. Best to use dogs.

  • I totally agree dogs are best and definitely more fun, however there are a few hunters who like the challenge of trying a hunt without dogs and these ideas we have shared should get them started in the right direction.

  • what dogs are they using

  • mostly walkers with heavy "house" breeding

  • I'm partial to them house bred walkers myself, I use my hounds for coon hunting in Oklahoma, I would love to try this someday. Thanks for posting!

  • I hunt blueticks now but I used to hunt Joe House bred Walkers.Ole Houses Clint sure was a nice coon hound and a good reproducer.

I remember way back when Houses Tom Tom won the ACHA Little World Hunt.

  • Wow! Those are some big cats!!

  • that looks like a blast..we don't have them in Oklahoma...

  • amazing yu rock

  • cool video the season is upon us good luck this year

  • Thanks and good luck to you too!
