@razr242 When you get your first piercing ever, its always recommendable to wait from 1-2 months till the piercing is fully healed. Then you can start stretching and stretch every 2-3 weeks from there. But its always best to wait an extra time just so you don't blow out you're ear

I started with long acrylic tapers and went from a normal earring hole to a 6g in just over 3 weeks, people say you can't wear them but its not true, acrylic are light weight and don't cause your ear to droup. And a lot of people don't know is to take a hot ass shower right before u insert you gauge, your pours expand and with a little lube you should have no problem putting them in.

just thought id say that it was quite a good tutorial and i found it kinda funny but also that tapers are only meant for stretching and not wearing so when they are inserted they should be followed by a plug/tunnel just to stop what he said about what happens when you use tapers

actually those pinchers you used are worse than tapers because they do the stretch too quickly. the tapers are more gradual. you were right about not wearing them though but your not supposed to do that in the first place. What you do is you push the taper through and follow trhough with the plug. much better than pinchers (which is what you used)

I stretched my ear completely different to you... For starters, I started with a 3mm acrylic taper, it healed fine :L I didn't do any massaging/sterilising or anything, I just punched it through in school :L and besides now because I haven't got any bigger sizes, I didn't wait more than 3 days before my next stretch and I'm now at an 8mm

It looks like you went from 1 - 1,2 mm to 2,5 or so (correct me if I'm wrong). the steps should be as small as possible: 1,2 - 1,6 - 2.0 - 2,5 - 3,2. After those sizes you can also get glass plugs with round end in half mm increments. After a certain point, 6 mm or so it's better to use tape (PTFE or bondage) 1-2 wraps a week. Stretching should not hurt, hurting means tearing of tissue which can be a huge disadvantage in future stretching. Cheers!

These are his opinions on tapers etc, and btw just because they worked for you doesent mean they work for everyone, tapers can seriously damage your ears.

And steel is the best to use for stretching ad it has a bit of weight and can't cause infection if cleaned properly.

Okay, so I started stretching my ear today aswell. Before hand I talked to a friend of mine who's a professional piercer. Despite what this guy says, you CAN use tapers. Once you have your taper inserted though, use it to put a plug in so you get a circular hole. Sadly I only bought the taper so I need a plug ASAP. But yeah, you can use tapers.

using a taper (spike) up to 3mm is fine, what he says about it making your ear a funny shape etc isnt true. sizes 3 or less arent heavy enough to do that, whenever you upsize use a taper or a ring like he says. when you decide to stay a certain size you can use plugs, tunnels, etc etc but you cant upsize using them.

umm actually, i went to a 2g in my right ear from a regular piercing, my friends went to 4g and 6g and have never had blowouts. tapers are good if you only use them for stretching. and if theyre steel. and a month between stretching is common knowledge. stretching with a pincher is a dumbshit idea, it will make your ear heal curved.

I started out using plastic/acrylic 2mm spirals. After a couple of days i went to 3mm spirals. After about a week and a half i had 4mm ones. I didnt have any problems, except it hurt if you bashed it whilst it wasnt all the way through. (i put them in really slowly, spread it out over a few days) i use spirals bcoz they have are the longest, or it gradually gets fatter throughout the spiral, so its really helpful. They get a bit icky, but clear

After a couple months, I got my mum to go down and get me some, (I hadn't washed my hair or something so I didn't go :L) and I asked her to get 4mm and the woman said "don't let her be a pussy' and made mum buy 5mm, I didn't use them though.

This was a good video showing how you did your first stretch. I, personally, used plastic tapers right up to 4mm. I stopped at 10 and 4 and put stainless steel tunnels in to allow healing. At 6, I had a minor infection in one ear, which healed in a couple of weeks with glass plugs in. But yeah, never had a problem with the tapers, nor with the plastic, but I did take them out twice a day to clean.
