Thank you so much! You are an amazing teacher!! Simple and easy learning! I've been searching for videos for the past hour and yours is actually educational!!! Thank you!!
Can you show us how to play home sweet home by motley crue??? I just got an electric keyboard for christmas and Im still learning how to play it still, Lol.
@tw1l1ghtrocks7 Congrats on the new keyboard! That is awesome. I plan to start teaching songs in my lessons soon. Not sure that I will be able to cover Home Sweet Home because I need to stay away from copyrighted material. But hopefully the lessons will give you what you need to learn any song you want! Thanks for watching. All the best in your musical endeavors!
@zaboomafia That's a great idea! Thank you. I'm actually working on putting an album together for iTunes. Once it's out I'll make some videos on how to play some of the songs from it. Glad you enjoyed the music. Thanks for watching!
@patreciaDumbo The sharps and flats are both black keys. Any given black key on the piano keyboard is called by both a sharp and flat name. So, the black key to the right of the key C is called C# (C sharp) and Db (D flat). The key to the right of the key F is called both F# (F sharp) and Gb (G flat). What name you use, sharp or flat, will depend on what scale (or key) you are using. You can watch video #2 to learn about scales. Thanks for watching. I hope this answers your question.
Thank you sooo much for posting this I'm a missionary and my daughter and I are learning piano together. This is really great of you to post all this information for free. God Bless You.
@ofaservantsheart That is awesome! I am so glad you are finding the videos helpful. Let me know if there is any way I can help you in your musical endeavors. And may the Lord bless you in your ministry. I pray that through your music you may find a new way to declare His praises!
I am sorry about my comments. I was not looking real close to the video and the explanation. I understand now what you were explaining. I thought you were calling the black notes b notes (not flat keys). Please forgive me for the comments. My mistake!!
@jomullens Oh, I see. Yes, I can understand how that could be confusing. No apology necessary. Like I said, I am glad you were watching so closely! Sorry for the confusion. I chose to use the "b" to represent flat because that is the closest we can get with standard letters, unless I had used a different font. But I chose not use a different font because on most chord charts and lead sheets that you can find online the letter "b" is used to represent flat. So I stuck with that.
@jomullens Thank you for drawing attention to it because there are probably others who are also confused by it and this will hopefully help to clarify it for them as well. Blessings!
If you will review the video, when you are explaining the sharps and flat note, you have labeled that the d note is a b note (the d is backwards), then the g sharp or a flat, you have it labeled as a b note.
I did not like this tutorial, because there was confusion on the sharp and flat keys. The "b" was noted on the last 4 keys, which could be confusing to someone who does not know the keys. I do know the keys of the piano, therefore, I recognized the mistake. Please take a look at this tutorial again.........
@jomullens I'm glad to see you were watching the video so closely. But, I do not see the error you are referring to. Each of the black keys is called by both a sharp (#) and a flat (b) name. They are enharmonic equivalents. So, for example, the left-most key in the group of 3 black keys is called F# and Gb. It is the same for all of the black keys. And, in fact, some of the white keys as well. The key C, for example, is also sometimes referred to as B#. I hope this helps.
@4TheEpic #F is the black note that is to the right (above) the note F. All of the black notes on the piano keyboard are called either Sharp (#) and Flat (b). You call them sharp (#) in relation to the note they are above (to the right) and you call them flat (b) in relation to the note they are below (to the left). For example, the black note which is above (to the right) of C is called C#. That same note would also be called Db (said "D flat") because it is below (to the left of) the note D.
@4TheEpic Each black note has two names, one is Sharp (for example G# - G sharp) and the other is Flat (for example Ab - A flat). Whether you call it a sharp or a flat depends on what key/scale you are in. You can learn more about scales/keys in Lesson 2.
I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
@pink2965 I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. A third one is in the works. In the meantime, I have a book that might be helpful. You can get it at thepianochordbookdotcom
I never thought it would be that easy!! Thanks i thought it would take me at least a year to learn those notes!! Thanks
