OK...Eric and Jeff playing and singing beautifully...but the lead is played by some unknown guitar player with a Fender 12 string and he's spot on...and just killing it ! Who is he/
keiner kann George ersetzen, auch ein Eric Clapton nicht! Trotzdem ein super Konzert mit geiler Besetzung. Ganz besonders auch mit dem jugendlichen George ( Sohn ).
There are many Rock luminaries on this, it's ok. I'm 58, and I have admired this early Harrison song for decades. It is Harrison "Juvenalia", and it's a tad Chauvinistic, but it's cool, in my view.
On the other hand, I play it out---just me and an acoustic guitar. And the 18 year olds, get real quiet, and actually listen. Happens every time. Stunning really. And usually, some kid will come up to me after the set and say "What was that song? That was cool!" Who'd a thunk it?
@bigmarty56 As for the song's chauvinism, it's certainly not in the "Songs for Patti" canon, is it? When he recorded this for Revolver, they'd already been married after dating for nearly two years.
@KUTVgroucho Hey Groucho, you're good! As only guitar players know, it is a D figure with "pinky wiggling". I'd never heard that quotation before, but Zappa was right about the mechanism. Now, whether you like that or not (I do, he apparently didn't) is in the ear of the beholder. It is an early Harrison (if not Beatles) song, and I do think the lyrics are a little Chauvinistic, but--so what? Keep on Listening and Playing.
@bigmarty56 I used to maintain a steady on-line correspondence with Macca's ex Frannie Schwartz years ago and she said that Harrison was a bit of a chauvinist in a way which was consistent with the "Northern" (England) male ethos of that time. Harrison did not want Patti to continue modeling after their marriage, preferring that she stay at home and be a "proper" wife. This expectation was part of what split up Macca and Jane Asher. He wanted the same thing. She wanted her career.
@KUTVgroucho I don't and didn't have the pipeline that you did, but it just occurs to me that the lyrics are a tad Chauvinistic---male oriented. Beyond that, as I said in my original post, for some reason---I know not why---this song calms the madding hoards. I play this song out---like I said just me and a guitar----and the place goes silent. A crowd reaction like I have never experienced before. I'm good, but my view is---there are a lot of good people, it's the material. Go figure.
@bigmarty56 Additionally, isn't ironic that in Linda, Macca got what he wanted, a wife by his side that wouldn't present a threat to his artistic stature. A bit of inside info there I was fortunate to have learned.
@KUTVgroucho You might know better than I. My understanding is that Macca would allow Linda to perform with him, but tell the sound guy to turn her off. I have made an independent study of this (not) and I have concluded that Sir Paul likes large breasts.
@bobbollu I think at least a part of the message here is, "If I didn't have something better to do, I'd do you". It's probably not the intent, but that's the way it strikes me. I call that Chauvinistic. In my original post, I said "a tad Chauvinistic". I stick by that because I think it's a love song by a writer who was learning along the way---"Juvenalia", as I also said in my original post. This is a nice, early song, but it's not "Something" or "Here Comes the Sun".
Respond to this video... I wanted to add ... what I liked about this tune is that it sounded like The Byrds, what with that D figure for the main riff, a riff that I recall Frank Zappa used to make fun of whenever he'd discuss the limitations of mid- 60s folk rock out of California ("... that D chord with the pinky wiggling around.")
@chonwai yes as good as this concert was and it was the best, couldn't help thinking how cool it would be if george himself popped out from backstage and did an encore with the band of some George songs not covered in this concert. Fact is this concert would never have taken place as just a tribute to a living George sad....
Yeah ,that would have been so cool if George had just" popped out from backstage".Then he could have been the new saviour and replace Easter...At least we would have got the resurrection on DVD this time, you know, proof...lol
That is not a price tag....that is one of George's guitar he played for this concert. i imagine it is a tag they put on there for the roadies or whoever is in charge of the equipment.
love this.. & will always love George <3

Just goes to show that the Beatles were amazing. Look at how many musicians it takes to reproduce the sound of the original recording.

A typically pedestrian performance, from rock's biggest bore, EC. Great song by George though. Petty would have done a way better version.

@19CACTUS51 The Electric XII Andy Fairweather-Low plays on the video is the same guitar used by George during the 1991 tour.
Originally this 1966 Electric XII started life in Ice Blue Metallic before being refinished in Firemist Gold a couple of years later.
