  • This is a Prog Rock tune.

  • Is there anyone from the 'proper' test card era that doesn't remember this piece of music. Wonderful.

  • m,any thanks! been after this for years!

  • I play this tune in my car. Wicked to drive to!

  • Very very good - cbam2000, I'm with you, no one I know remembers it. I thought it was the tune to "Going to Work"......hmm. Have also found the theme to Screen Test with Michale Rodd, so I'm pleased ! Remember asking my dad who it was by......

  • cool, getting this tune for my new channel i'm starting on Sky called "Pages From Cefax TV" non-stop 24 hours!

  • Awww wow there's loads I remember from when BBC went off air in the day time. There use to be one that sounded very much Gary Newman, very dark synth.. but this trakc reminds me of being in TV room at school waiting for programes to start :D

  • I have waited 25 years to hear this track again! How absolutrely wonderful, if not a little sad. I first heard it home from school around 1980 (aged 5) and regularly on ceefax until I last heard it around summer 1987. I can play it on keyboard and have been boring people for years with getting them to tell me if they knew it - no one did! But here it is! There used to be a good redenition of Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head around the same time as this too. Brilliant to hear it again!

  • @cbam2000 Aww nice Haha

  • @cbam2000 blimey never thought i would find this track takes me back to my childhood, i also loved the theme to encounter germany.

  • This is fantastic!

  • Sources inside the beeb tell me that the LP's for Bart nd two other tracks surfaced when they were clearing out the pres. suite in TV Centre, prior to mving in Jan 06 up the road to RedBee HQ.

It was played a few times after good viewer feedback - sadly, they're not allowed to do that now...

The track has been played in four decades - as a schools track, a Ceefax link, OU interval, on a BBC 1 test card tape in 1978-80, it's been everywhere. And it's bloody great!

  • I believe one of the other tracks was a disco version of the Star Wars theme!

  • sooooo good :) i wish i could download it somewhere tho :(

  • @fatducksareobese can't you record from your PC soundcard, stereo mix or something ? email me.......

  • @LordLemsip i cant coz me computer's pretty poor Dx

  • A really good recording of a fantastic classic track which has certainly stood the test of time. Well done for posting this (it is in fact, from 2005, not 2006.) ; ) !
