My German shepherd knows how to sit,down and stand or other tricks sometime but he won't listen to my mom or trainer he's get really hyper. I can control my dog cause he know me a lot. Well,sometime he's calm he's very active he is almost 2 year old. his name Jerry -Lee. And I'm going get him neutering on 8/5/11..he's pretty hyper and good dog.

@poeticmurder911 hey i adopted a stray husky few days ago and he is 2 years old. i tried to train him by my own and he learned the comand down not perfect yet but it s ok. so i believe all the dogw can be trained. how old is your dog?

Okay, I have had this dog for a long time we found him at the park and he is some sort of mini maltese and poodle mix. He is the one who created God---well, hes old enough to have created Him lol. @DxBTheeB I started my Black Shepherd as soon as I got him. So at the age of 7 weeks. Best way to go. He was an amazing dog. So from then on all the dogs I get I start all my dogs as soon as I get them.

its best to train him/her before he/she eats so when you have a treat, they will pay more attention to you. also make sure that there are no distractions around like people, toys, or other animals.

The key to actually training a dog and having it focus on you is to properly give it the exercise it needs.

I have two small king charles, and some people think king charles are calm couch dogs that just want to sleep. but the reason i got them was they need more than other king charles. You cant base your dogs energy on the breed, every dog is different. ^__^ Great training vid btw

I got the same problem. And also have a mixed breed min pin, 2 1/2 months old. I got her to sit, but when I try to get her to go "down", she just sticks her neck down standing. If I do the "sit" first and take the treat down, she will stand up and stick her neck down to try and get it.

For example, if you're using hot dog/beef jerky, cut them into small pieces.

This way, it's healthier for your dog and he/she doesn't run away from you.

bichons are soo sweet, so just use time and patience, and when she does something you dont want her to do, tell her, "No.", and try to hint her on what you want her to do. dont give her the treat untill she does what you want her to do

For dogs with problems with down (meaning they raise the butts) use the lure inward than outward. i.e. into his stomach, with the lure near the floor reel it out, ill have a video on down soon, check out my vids.

Once he starts to get the hang of it with the lure, place the lure in your other hand and use the hand that previously held the lure to give the hand signal for down. (Just lower your hand with your palm facing down - I also have a video on youtube for handsignals.)

If he goes "down" for the hand signal then reward with the treat in your other hand. If not, go back to the lure a few times and then switch to the hand signal.
