  • Can't wait to see Justin tomorrow night in Vancouver - even if I f'd up my order & doubled it - more friends to go with me -3 -3 he's had a wonderful legacy of music to grow up with. Is it any wonder he's as wonderful as he is?

  • If I'm down to my last breath, this may well be the song I wish to go out to. Thanks. You and your dad are, as the kids say, the bombed.

  • 2 people might as well drown

  • My mom just got up to say "Really? country music!"

Not what I would call it. But whatever.

  • =]

  • instant classic

  • Kenny Chesney played it twice.

  • His music just keeps getting better and better. He's surpassed his dad, closing in on Townes. Keep on movin brother!

  • @tbosephus no way, Steve is still awesomer.

  • Toe tapping on a shotgun triggerly good.

  • Love your music JTE.

  • i'm not taken with this, but i wont dislike...

  • i really like this song

  • I must have listened to this 50 times in the last couple days... really addictive! I am glad to see that JT has raised his game... starting to catch the eyes of his pappy's fans like me... hope to see him next time he hits Detroit.

  • I just seen him last night at the Nelsonville Music Fest.

  • Tis groovy.

  • This is a rare album.. Each song is a surprise, a glass of water, and for the first time in years I didn’t want the c song I was hearing to end and at the same time I couldn’t wait until the next song begin. At last we have someone with talent, charisma, and energy. With any luck the feast of mediocrity American music is currently serving will be over and we can, once again, celebrate the plethora of talent we have been missing for many, many years.

  • A wonderful song. Reminds me a lot of Johnny Cash. Perhaps with some hints of Steve Earle and Roy Orbison (The Traveling Wilburys, perhaps the greatest of the Rock super groups).

    Love it.

  • @wsidejack haha steve earle is his dad

  • @rouge19d I know. :-)

  • One person got covered in dirty water and drowned

  • for some reason, he reminds me of Buddy Holly and Ricky Nelson, more country style, and some Cash too.

  • for some reason, he reminds me of Buddy Holly.

  • got this track on a free cd with mag. then got the album. then got all his albums. this guy is a genius and a leg end. im so glad people still make music like this :)

  • JustinTownes Earle is the next big thing not to be played on country radio they are two busy playing crap..........Cant wait for more stuff from Justin

  • grate songe keep it up bud

  • this guy is amazing

  • man, i would to cruise thru the arizona desert while listening to this

  • @OleScrubby Great song, but it'd never make me want to be in Arizona. I'm prejudging, as I've never been there - I'm sure it's beautiful. And, while making sweeping generalizations is exactly the heart of the matter about why Arizona is so unappealing to me, its hard to think positively about Arizona due to the unfortunate philosophies of a self-important few who make the policies that drive Arizona in the opposite direction of real progress. They make the entire state look like a bigot.

  • @boywill80 Wow. You missed his whole point I think. I live in AZ by the way, and I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

  • @NintenFan0900 SB 1070. It basically allows for racial profiling if you "look" like you don't have papers.

  • If you visit his website and sign in for newsletter, you can download Harlem River Blues as an mp3- it is a good rendition!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw the performance on Letterman and had to look these guys up. Great song!

  • Great song...great album. They actually did a BETTER version live on Letterman...not usually the case with most performers!!

    Rock on, Justin!!

  • Does anyone know who the chick on the album cover is?

  • I love this song and Justin Towne Earle........I just saw him on the David Letterman

show.....I want all of his music.

  • This is the best contemplating suicide song I've ever heard!

  • @Cerberus894 That's what I thought, too. But what if it's about baptism?

  • @havenhillsfarm I just heard him give an interview on BBC radio where he said it WAS about baptism. Washing away sins..etc

  • @floppyd0g how does that explain "tell my mother i love her etc"

  • @floppyd0g

I have read a few interviews where Earle talked about the song, and think it is most accurate to say that he is using baptism as a metaphor for suicide as a release for the pains of the world. He has said he has had a few friends commit suicide, and one friend was noticeably happier after he decided to take his life and before he did it. More generally, Earle was exploring gospel music forms on this album, to write about non-Christian themes.

  • Great performance on Letterman last night

  • just heard you on david letterman all the way down under. reminds of johnny cash song but upbeat. good stuff

  • Saw him on Letterman last night, the audience didn't know what they were getting and then-thunderous applause. Clearly a big hit. ALWAYS a pleasure to discover some great new music. Early Johnny Cash meets Jakob Dylan, meets early Mellencamp says hello to Oh Brother Where Art Thou. I'm hooked. I live in NYC so I'd love a local show!!

  • Saw him on Letterman last night. Love it!

  • just saw him on Letterman too. Had to check him out. Absolutely great!

  • saw on letterman awesome stuff!

  • Thank you 89.3 The Current for playing this on the radio

  • I Love Steve Earle, But He Ain't Near As Good As His Son Justin Townes Earle!!!

  • Don't be surprised that you won't hear this song on main stream radio; it's way to good to be played with all that regular bubble gum crap... This song and entire album is amazing! I couldn't find it anywhere, (and believe I looked), so I ordered on-line. Well worth the effort and money! Best album of the year -- if not in years!!!

  • love this song

  • This is my song of the year. What a great tune!!

  • best music made in years.

  • Best song I've heard in YEARS!

  • @darrylmatthewmurphy If you ain't heard Yuma it is worth a listen.
