I remember back in the day, when I joined the Marine Corps in 1984, they used to poke, prod and punch us if we didn't move fast enough... The drill instructors had more freedom back then than they do now... too many parents complained so now the DI's have to be nice and respectful to the recruits...Sure wouldn't want them to feel bad...lol
i do believe the Marines are very tough but how can someone judge they are tougher than the other without going through both training branches? when i was in the Army we said we were tough and Im sure the Marines say they are tough, and the Air force and Navy probably say they are tough also.
Evey branch is tough to themselves but if you havent went through both branches then you cant give a true credit to who is "tougher". war outcomes dont make you tougher because its a give and take situation and what specialties each branch bring to the table. the army air force and navy have bailed out the Marines many a times when i know they are fighting right beside each other in EVERY war.

You wanted some advice I can provide it for you. You don't have to go into the Marines in order to become a police officer. I went into the Marines at age 22. I wanted to be a police officer as well. I changed my mind Now I am a medic. I didn't need the Marine corps to do that. I don't regret it. It was a great experience and learned alot. However, if you go in you will never be the same. Marines become regular civilians once out so it's our choice the line of duty we choose. I had combat first aid training. That peaked interest to become a medic when I got out. I now work as a Flight medic on a heli. I did that on my own. Marine corps did not help the training did not help. I became an EMT worked on an ambulance. went to paramedic program worked the streets then wanted to fly. networked myself into a program. MArines are great if you have no other options. do marines for 4 years, infantry, then you can become military police. Then if you decide to get out after 4 years, you can go straight into becoming a ploice officer somewhere.

i am 18 and a senior in high school i plan on getting a degree but i want to join some branch of the military? im thinking either air force or marines...idk i come from a family full of military so its hard to decide.. i even talked to this one guy who served in Vietnam he was a weapon specialists..and so far he and my family have told me not to go to marines...its such a hard decision =/
First off remember they probably haven't been in the military for years and vietnam is different from today. I'm going to college first then the military so atleast I'll get one college degree away with before I go. But the marines don't seem that bad at all.

I would say to go talk to both sets of recruiters and after you take the ASVAB see what MOS you can get that you are interested in. I can say though that the Air Force has ALOT more funding so the equipment is all higher quality. Both branches have great men and women. Best bet is if you are going to go into one of them, go with the one that feels right. Don't worry about what others tell you. It's your life make what you will of it.

You wanted some advice I can provide it for you. You don't have to go into the Marines in order to become a police officer. I went into the Marines at age 22. I wanted to be a police officer as well. I changed my mind Now I am a medic. I didn't need the Marine corps to do that. I don't regret it. It was a great experience and learned alot. However, if you go in you will never be the same. You will not like what you will become. The commercials look cool and they sell you a bunch of crap!

Marines become regular civilians once out so it's our choice the line of duty we choose. I had combat first aid training. That peaked interest to become a medic when I got out. I now work as a Flight medic on a heli. I did that on my own. Marine corps did not help the training did not help. I became an EMT worked on an ambulance. went to paramedic program worked the streets then wanted to fly. networked myself into a program. MArines are great if you have no other options. If you're trying to decide between the Air Force and the Marines, go into the Air Force. I believe the two are complete opposites. Spent time on an Air Force base and it was just a bunch of civilians in uniforms. As for the music, I like it. "Jesus Walks" fit perfectly for the feel of what was going on, both songs did. I would say to go talk to both sets of recruiters and after you take the ASVAB see what MOS you can get that you are interested in. I can say though that the Air Force has ALOT more funding so the equipment is all higher quality. Both branches have great men and women. Best bet is if you are going to go into one of them, go with the one that feels right. Don't worry about what others tell you. It's your life make what you will of it.
