it's neither funny, nor about (sexual) masochism, nor about any aspect of gay culture. it's a tragically comic (which is the precise opposite of 'comically tragic') encapsulation of the devotion of abused spouses to their abusers. that it's about abuse and not about healthy S&M is indicated by lines like "burn my house to the ground" and "beat me till I die," which are obviously not standard sadomasochist fare. the absurdity makes the circumstance portrayed all the more sad and grotesque.

Another 15 year old here that adores the dark cabaret style of music. I love tiger lillies and voltaire the most yet i do admire others such as humanwine, vermillion lies, dresden dolls, amanda palmer in solo, etc. The small existence of such grace and touching harmony is what fuels us people that actually cares about pure art. @foojuice101 Good music is ageless, raceless, creedless.  It speaks to all people who can appreciate it, regardless of their physical appearance. Liking the band isn't weird for any age- it just indicates good taste. ;-) (Speaking as a sixteen-year-old, at any rate, so I might have a slightly biased opinion. But still!)

I think this song is an ode to gay S&M. I don't think its sad at all. I think its pretty funny.

The singer is saying 'beat me till I'm black and blue" and "I'll still love you." I don't know about your relationships but that's pretty sick;. I think its meant to be funny.
