All of these facts made it a perfect opponent to the Freedom, and Kira who never aimed at the cockpit of mobile suits. If Kira blew off Impulses arm, Shinn could just replace it., or better yet disconnect the parts to quickly to avoid Kira's attacks. Shinn wanted to avenge his family, who were accidently caught in a battle involving the Freedom, and with this machine he quickly realized that he could.
