hey like the song, and the way u make it fun, can anyone help me with this? i sent a package with the wrong name on it.and the person canot pick it up...cause the post master mark throug it to make it right and john said he cantpick it up.. now he will be sendin it back to the states. and now he is upset with me and dont want to chat with me now. cause the post office will not release the package.it's a laptop.
GOD BLESS U man ...i am taking world music and it is required tht we listen to this music...its under the topic music-culture..MU111 thnk u man..i really appriciate it
It's a nice song -- but parts of the beat are intentional and not at all related to working on a task. My professor was in Ghana and was friends with the field researcher that made this recording in the 70's. Apparently, the scissor swishing and clapping sound was made by a worker just using them for the sound -- not for their blade to cut any paper.
My professor played this song the other day in class for a short lesson on some different types of world music. I love African rhythms, they are so complex. I think it is great that there are people out there looking for the music being created in the many cultures around the world (ethnomusicologists I believe they are called). Thanks for sharing this wonderful song.
we listened to this in music class, I'm in grade 9 and we are learning about texture of music, and this song is suck a great example of homophonic music!!! I love this so much
We listened to this in our Music Therapy class and had to guess what it was. I can tell you, no one guessed that it was a group of postal workers just doing their job.
you're very welcome. I studied it in a similar class 10 years ago and have enjoyed the tune and thinking about those men enjoying their work ever since.
Ha. This is the one song that sticks in my mind from Music of the World class from like 10 years ago!

@87325 So it's invalid or ... ? Funny, the textbook makes that perfectly clear in Chapter One.

Amazing, catchy tune! I wish the wealth of work songs around the world could be better preserved.

I so love this! Filled with a wonderful rhythm and gentle joy.
It brings Buckaroo Banzai to mind somehow as well.
