Thanks. Just stepped through this. FYI - they moved the "learn more" link to the box that pops up on the original opt-out page. So you have to choose between clicking "confirm" and "learn more." If you have trouble getting to the learn more link leave the box checked, follow the instructions to block the 3rd party sites, then go back and uncheck the opt-in box.
My "Instant Personalization" section doesn't have a "Learn More" link... and there's an "Edit Setting" button where your check mark box is. So it's already a bit different from what you have in this video.
Having to block each app individually is for the fucking birds. There should be a way of saying "I don't want this or anything even remotely like it." Facebook not offering that is them saying "Us data mining you IS the point."
I understand getting totally off facebook is hard - but it's starting to look like it's going to be worth the effort.
Yeah, they've already changed it. Took a long time, but I did find something. Unfortunately YouTube won't let me post a link here, but go to facebookdotcom, slash help, question mark faq=17105
@gsusphreke This help pages references the three apps. Be warned, though - I'm not convinced these are the only three. IMDB(.)com has "like" buttons on the right side of any movie page, and they work even after unchecking the "allow" box. I'm starting to believe there's no way around this.
At the VERY least, it would seem FB is making this complicated by design...
Almost all those links and searches different for me this morning. Either FB is changing them or they're different based on region (e.g. Canadian & EU privacy laws may mean they can't share data like that).
It looks as though FB has changed the pages that you refer to. When you visit the actual domain you are presented with a dropdown menubar at the top of the page. I am guessing that clicking 'no thanks' on this page is akin to the opt out process you have detailed above.
all facebook users are controlled, please save yourself, dont go in there. this is something which people behind govern use to controll you, spy you and god knows what else. please get out
So, do I know have to block manually every new app thaht facebook is adding to his system, or am I save witht the unchecked "allow" box for future shitstorm?
Thanks. I've passed this important Facebook privacy information to my listeners of Pirate Party Radio. I do hope they eventually make a checkbox to opt out of ALL future 'instant personalization partner' applications rather than having to randomly check back for the list every so often.
This is completely ridiculous, there should be a way completely disable the feature without having to go through each application. I hope Facebook will get slapped again by the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
i love facebook

Under instant personalization, I don't have the "learn more" option. Any Ideas?

Also the learn more has been put into the pop up when you uncheck, and the uncheck has been put into the edit settings button. All squirreled away!

@Indyaner You'll probably need to block each of them manually, unless facebook make some changes to the way they operate.

We should be able to write a script that users could use to automate the blocking.

2 years ago I tried to block all the apps (60,000 at the time) and the system stopped letting me block new ones at about 6,000.
If someone can tell me how to make a video like this on my mac, I'd be happy to post a demo of what happens when I try to block a new application.

Thanks for that, I didn't even know that Facebook did that. I am posting this video on Facebook right now so everyone else knows about it.
