ken buchanan is from edinburgh, jim watt is from glasgow, jim watt also doesn't use much scottish dialect and ken does. are you really telling me what is the normal way to talk where i'm from?! you're a fucking idiot.
Jim Watts speaks like a british. His neigbour Buchanan speaks in a totally different way. I'm just looking at facts. So no need for the idiot shit. Sometimes people do have their own strange way of speaking. Maybe they speak like that where he's from. Anyway, it is very hard to understand what he's saying for any American or British.
they both speak like "a british", they are both from britain and speak the way others spoke around them while they were growing up, which is how speech is learned. i apologize for the idiot comment but what i said was correct.
going to see eddie mcintosh fight in brum tomorrow, special guest appearing.... Ken Buchanan! i cannot wait to meet him, one of the best this country ever has/will produce.... Make no mistake, British boxing legend!
Kenny Buchanan was THE best boxer in the world at that time.
Kenny had everything -he was a work of art, perfect physique, beautiful movement, grace and he could pack a punch. He went toe to toe with the sluggers and he could take a punch. His fight v Laguna in 100 degrees heat was magnificent.
I got to know the man slightly & he is just the way he is in this film. A gentle guy who had a special talent.
The consensus seems to be that Ken would have lost to Duran in a rematch. But he sure as heck should have been given one. He gave Duran a shot, Duran should have returned the favor.
I agree,I m a HUGE Duran fan,my faverite fighter of all time and I believe Duran would have beat Ken again should they have fought a second time. That said it was wrong that that Ken was never given a chance to reclaim his title by Roberto.
Ken was good but used the low blow to get outa the Duran fight.Just as well he did NOT get a return as all three referees had him 5 behind at the end of the 13th.
Welshman Joe Calzage is the best British fighter of all time
Henry bloody Cooper, are you taking the piss? Buchanan was far better. Still he wasnt the best British boxer ever, Jimmy Wilde, Ted 'Kid' Lewis and Jackie 'Kid' Berg are all better. Whichever side of the British/Canadian fence you sit Lennox Lewis was better too. I believe a case can also be made for Joe Calzaghe
Most boxing experts would probably say Bob Fitzgerald or Jimmy Wilde are the two best British boxers. Im not saying Lynch and Buchanan were shit far from it but to say they are the two best British boxers is slightly biased when you've got all the great Welsh fighters like Wilde, Jim Driscoll, Freddie Welsh, Howard Winstone, Joe Calzaghe and English fighters like Fitz, Lennox, Ted Lewis, Jackie Berg, Owen Moran and Peter Kane. There is plenty of talent that has produced by all three countries.
i've looked around a fair bit and they usually put buchanan at the top, or at least second. don't worry, i'm not being biased i'm just saying what i've heard from the experts. i wouldn't say calzaghe was even in the top ten. i don't know too much about most of the boxers you said there, i'll give them a look. i wish britain had a floyd mayweather or someone similar, best boxer around just now, for me anyway.
@scottishlad1987 "i wouldnt put Calzaghe in the top ten" hmmmm so retiring undefeated in over 40 fights ruling your weight class completely all with hands that doctors at a young age told him would be no good as a fighter does not even make your top ten?, but 2 scottish boxers who were flawed are the best eh? biased much?
From Wikipedia-Lennox Claudius Lewis CM, CBE (born September 2, 1965) is a retired British/Canadian professional boxer. Despite representing Canada at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, he fought under the British flag as a professional.
superb an absolute legend i once had the pleasure of showing golden gloves winner andy minsker edinburgh but the only thing he was interested in was meeting the man who had inspired him to box all the way from portobello to portland oregon that says it all recognition for his achievements well overdue
Glad Ken is getting some recognition now. He was a great fighter and an exciting champ. I got to meet him when he was champ and I was an amateur fighter. He was a class act. I'll always admire him.
Many thanks for posting this series of videos. When I was in my teens in the 70s I thought this guy was just great. I have always remembered him as the greatest mover of any fighter in the ring he was magic. Glad to see he has his life back together again! he worked hard for it.
Quality documentary!

Duran would have beaten him if they would have fought ten times. He needs to let that go.

I had a hard time following Buchanan. He speaks a little bit weird.
cizer77 2 years ago
it's actually perfectly normal in this part of the world.
scottishlad1987 2 years ago
Jim Watt doesn't speak like that so I guess the way Buchanan speaks is not the norm like you suggest.

How can you possibly call Lennox Lewis British? Does your nationality really mean that little to you?

ron--he holds a British passport period!
How many Mexicans would swap theirs for a USA passport?..ask the millions on the Rio Grande who seek to enter illegally.

Man, you forget how much a loss like that can hurt them. At least it was to Duran though, like he said. But, I don't think he would've won a rematch.
