Thats funny somebody said they seen thewem and 3 othr acts for $6.50 now days you pay 10 maybe 12 times that like they said and all you get is somebody walkin around stage and a dj instead of a band !
Roll Call: ChiLites,Whispers,Temptations,Dells,Del Fonics,Four Tops,Detroit Emeralds,Main Ingredient, Jacksons and the ever lovin Dramatics just to name a few. What an era!! They had the moves as well as the chops. Will we ever see the like again? I agree justafu. Probably their best album. Funny. It was written & produced by Tony Hester and every song is a gem. He had some credits on the next album and seemed to disappear from The Dramatics lexicon afterwards. Strange when hitmakers disappear.
Saw these cats back in the day w/ The ChiLites & The Dells on the same pgm. Smokin show ya'll! Funny. Several backup band members for The Dramatics were delayed at the airport so they had to open w/a piano, drums and bass. These cats were so smooth & polished with their vocal pyrotechnics you really didn't notice the missing instruments. So all you autotune heads, realize their is such a thing as true talent and some folks(me included) just don't have it. I just hope it's not the end of an era.
These youngstaz (under 40 will never have the pleasure of hearing a group that stays together for longer than 10 years.....unless you count rap groups. Why is it called "HIP HOP" anyway?! Sound like some good heroin!
The Dramatics shook up the 'D' every summer with a new album for numerous years. They were local heros, giving shows at reasonable prices. They were very accessible. Much love and respect.
@milton112 I remember the highest priced seats being @ $6.50, and you saw more than just one act. Now days, ticket prices are 10x+ that amount, and you only see how many? One act? Two if you are lucky. Ticket prices these days are far too exorbitant to see the acts now. And these performers act as if they are doing the fans a favor. What is up?
Wow - they sound just like the Temptations on this song! The Temptations are good but I LOVE the Dramatics!!!! Soulful harmony, sexy moves, beautiful music, and good-looking men!! The song is about hot pants, but the music sounds romantic! Thanks, justafu, a good post!!
This song was led by Wee Gee Howard, their best singer. Ron Banks, Lenny Mayes (RIP) and Mr Reynolds were super and great. However Mr Howard (RIP) was on another level. Next to the Tempts, The Dramatics were the best
I was stationed in the UK when this jam hit and it blew my mind. For those of you too young to remember the "hot pants" fashion. Good Golly Miss Molly, you missed out on some great looking ass. Gas stations in the UK used to have girls in hot pants pump your gas! Damn. Those were the days brothers. This song just brought it all back for me. Thank you.
Man, this was my favorite tune for the Dramatics. While everybody else was jamming to the other hits, this was the jam. My generation, we invented hot pants hot pants!
THIS MY JAM!
