What is scary is how willing they are to make Marta and Emil look good and Alice and Decus look bad. Is just a way to say to the player: "She only loved herself. Don't feel bad for her, she doesn't deserve it."
Between Emil being a demon who took the form of a man he killed, then the persona of a boy who died in a fire, I can't say that I completely favor Emil at all.
As for Alice's quotes that you were talking about, I don't think emotional love was the idea being presented here. Alice simply needed Decus because of his ridiculous skill with the sword. His "power". Alice craved Power to the end. Decus' death forcibly changed that. Which is still pretty messed up, really.

All I know about it is that is about Alice and Decus childhood in the orphanage and their adolescence traveling together for 5 years until they joined the Vanguard. And ofcourse one of the things it talks about is about each other complicated feelings during that time.
Saddly is only in japanese but I guess you can order it online if you know japanese. I think is cool that Decus and Alice have an official novel.

I was so sad when Alcie died. Even thoughs shes a nasty person, something about her resonates with me. She was confident enought to be herself, even though that can be hard at times. I think that is the one good take away from her as a character.

What about the Viriginia sidequest where you learn about Genis' and Raine's mother? ToS1 had a lot more touching moments than this, but I would gladly include this in a list of amazing ToS moments. Pisses me off when people say this wasn't a real sequel.
Wow, this part had me going from "Die bitch!" during the battle scene one minute to trying not to cry the next omg that was a heartbreaking scene even if it was Alice and Decus, they were still cool villains.
At first, I hated Alice. Then I hated her more because she's a goddamn hypocrite (Oh I'm SORRY for being so dependent Alice. I'm pretty sure you don't rely on Decus, your monsters, oh and I never fight you alone...)
@ES21007 Alice is not an hypocrite, she doesn't rely in anyone. She makes others fight for her because she controlls them with fear. She uses the monsters and the Vanguard soldiers because she is stronger than them. And she doesn't rely on Decus, she let him fight with her because they are mates. The difference is that Marta doesn't control the people who fight for her, Marta rely on others, Alice doesn't, she uses her power to force them to fight for her. Is different.

Decus died happily givir his life for Alice, and Alice was happy to die because she was going to be with him again. Tragic, but they got the best ending scene of all the characters.
Alice's quest for power was definetely an okay choice. Its the way she used it that made her a wreck; to instill fear in others. I guess thats her way of vengence, but in truth hate doesn't really get you anything except more hatred.
She didn't know abything but hate when she was young. To her or to Decus. All she have seen is that people with power do what they want. Even the heroes did all what they wanted using power.
She has fear. (Alice quote: I will best anyone that mistreats US with my own powers!) She still thinks that everyone want to mistreat her and Decus. No one cared for them, and now she don't care for anyone. (Alice quote: I'll survive and preserve with my own powers!) All she wants is live. How? Power.
Yeah, but her actions speak louder than words. Alice may have had somewhat noble intentions to protect herself and Decus, but the way she proformed these intentions is morally wrong. Her upraising may have contributed to her brash actions, but Decus was raised in a similar matter, being a Sylvaranti, and yet he has (somewhat) morals. If he wasn't so obsessed with Alice, perhaps he could have led her away from being power hungry (he did try to stop her once).
We only saw him try it once. Maybe he did it more times.
Now about morals. The morality is very personal, what could be bad for one person might not be for other. What Alice did wasn't immoral, is just against the morals of almost everyone.
If you look deep down at the morals you'll see that there are two kind of morals. The morals of the powerful persons, and the morals of the weak people.
Morals of the powerful people: They arise any action that alows you to keep your state.
(Continued) Such as: Valor, power, or anything that alows you to keep you hight standing and happyness.
Morals of weak: Since they don't have power, they begin saying that the morals of the powerful ones are "bad" and of "evil people". They have envy and jealousy. Then once the others are evil they say that their way to live is the goo one. Such as meekness, servitude, kindness etc...
Since in the world there are more "weak" than "powerful" persons. The moral of weaks has been taken as the globally good one.
Alice acted morally right. Besides she isn't someone who want to kill people, she just don't mind them being killed. But I can't blame her. Hundreds of people die daily, and i don't feel bad for them. Is had to care about the death of someone you don't know/care.
She also avoid killing and usually uses the fear as a weapon.
presea invented a thing called the iron maiden if you put a hair of someone you love into the maiden 765 days later you will find happiness so decus took one of alices hairs and put it in his iron maiden

Well... Decus was a soldier, after all he only accomplished his superior orders. Emil blamed him, but the real culprits were Richter and Brute. His superiors.

As far as we know she helped the people of Sylvarant and the only evil thing she did (*SPOILER*) was kill almost everyone in Hima, and that was to save Decus life.

But Alice was just horrible.She enjoyed hurting people,and while she might not have directly killed anyone for all we know she helped organize Magnar and Hawk to destroy Luin and hell,at least 50% of all the fights the protaganists got into were forced.On top of that,Alice is just so easy to hate.I mean,where does she get off spouting crap about power when she never fights herself?When she does,she just runs to the back.

Well. She had power over others, that's power, and in her last fight she proved how powerful she was. And "a retreat in time is a victory". Why are you going to die if you know you won't win that fight at that moment.
Alice is a sadist because all she knew when she was young was pain. To har and to Decus. It might be easy to say that this doesn't justify her actions. But everyone is the product of their experiences in life.
I don't think it can really be said that anything can justify anything-Everyone does things,some good and some bad,for their own reasons based on their own experiences.
That doesn't make anything she did "Right" per se,but it also doesn't make Richter or the group "Wrong" either.
The Definition of right and wrong largely depend on perspective.
For me, any of the called "heroes" where better than Decus or Alice. And the moral is just a justification to protect the personal interests. For me Alice was a real "hero", her nihilism and her way to see the world (like Nietzsche) was something I liked. I can only admire her determination and the fact that he didn't use any excuse to defend her ideals.
As far as we know as the commander of the COMBAR unit she commanded soldiers to fight against soldiers or armed people.

Alice and Decus killed innocents. But also did Kratos and Yuan in the 1º ToS and now they are heroes. In 1000 years they killed much more people than them.
Well, Alice DID help someone. I can't remember when exactly it is, but in the central area of Meltokio you see an old woman being thrown aside by a Martel Priest, and Alice helped her get an appointment for her son at a Tethe'allen doctor.
Alice was actually one of my favorite characters in the game. :( Of course she was a terrible person with the things she did, but I knew deep down she had feelings for Decus. It was like a little girl trying to play princess and treating everyone else lower than her, where she lost in the end. :( Poor Marta and Decus!
And I don't mean to be inappropriate or anything, but cmon, wut's up with that position Decus had at 0:50? I mean, the way he moans... and leans like that... um....... ya. To put it bluntly, it sounded like he had an orgasm right before he died.
Ya .. um, I love this game, but it has some problems. Why the hell is someone gonna slash at someone with a sword for being "whipped"? I mean, I don't think there is any sort of blade on that thing. Why the hell try to slash her?
Then Marta coulda just kicked her to knocked her out, but slashing her like that? It looked epic, but so uncalled for.
Its like a Romeo and Juliet scene: totally not needed. x.x *cry*
Not once the entire game have I felt sorry for these two. Decus deserved his death for killing countless people, and despiite Alice's past, not once did I feel any pity, I say good riddance to the both of them.
I didn't feel sad at all, Decus deserved his death for the Blood Purge. Alice loves him and wanted to go with him, Marta fulfilled that wish.. Call me heartless if you want...

What about the Viriginia sidequest where you learn about Genis' and Raine's mother? ToS1 had a lot more touching moments than this, but I would gladly include this in a list of amazing ToS moments. Pisses me off when people say this wasn't a real sequel.

@ES21007 Alice is not an hypocrite, she doesn't rely in anyone. She makes others fight for her because she controlls them with fear. She uses the monsters and the Vanguard soldiers because she is stronger than them. And she doesn't rely on Decus, she let him fight with her because they are mates. The difference is that Marta doesn't control the people who fight for her, Marta rely on others, Alice doesn't, she uses her power to force them to fight for her. Is different.

I agree about her obsession with power. Also I think that she never thought that Decus would die so she could keep those feelings to herslef.
You would be surprised of how hard a whip can hit. But yeah, Emil tried to kill someone how was hitting him with a weapon that couln't kill.
Decus died happily givir his life for Alice, and Alice was happy to die because she was going to be with him again. Tragic, but they got the best ending scene of all the characters.

Yeah, but her actions speak louder than words. Alice may have had somewhat noble intentions to protect herself and Decus, but the way she proformed these intentions is morally wrong. Her upraising may have contributed to her brash actions, but Decus was raised in a similar matter, being a Sylvaranti, and yet he has (somewhat) morals. If he wasn't so obsessed with Alice, perhaps he could have led her away from being power hungry (he did try to stop her once).

Now about morals. The morality is very personal, what could be bad for one person might not be for other. What Alice did wasn't immoral, is just against the morals of almost everyone.
If you look deep down at the morals you'll see that there are two kind of morals. The morals of the powerful persons, and the morals of the weak people.
Morals of the powerful people: They arise any action that alows you to keep your state.

Alice acted morally right. Besides she isn't someone who want to kill people, she just don't mind them being killed. But I can't blame her. Hundreds of people die daily, and i don't feel bad for them. Is had to care about the death of someone you don't know/care.
She also avoid killing and usually uses the fear as a weapon.

Well... Decus was a soldier, after all he only accomplished his superior orders. Emil blamed him, but the real culprits were Richter and Brute. His superiors.
Alice aside of threatening she didn't do anythig evil. Just weird stories everyone told about her.
As far as we know she helped the people of Sylvarant and the only evil thing she did (*SPOILER*) was kill almost everyone in Hima, and that was to save Decus life.
If you ask me, Emil, Marta and gang killed more people than them.

For me, any of the called "heroes" where better than Decus or Alice. And the moral is just a justification to protect the personal interests. For me Alice was a real "hero", her nihilism and her way to see the world (like Nietzsche) was something I liked. I can only admire her determination and the fact that he didn't use any excuse to defend her ideals.
As far as we know as the commander of the COMBAR unit she commanded soldiers to fight against soldiers or armed people.

Alice was actually one of my favorite characters in the game. :( Of course she was a terrible person with the things she did, but I knew deep down she had feelings for Decus.
