Never got to play on a MLBs but had my good times on other patrol boats in AK, OR and CA. I remember those days well, even though I finished my 20 yrs of service; ten years ago. This was a great tune for this video.
Those of you still serving keep it up; remember we go out so others can come home. Semper Paratus
im just glad there out there. i was raised on the water and have been in storms i thought i would not survive.nothing but respect for these guys. god bless
they're called "surf" stations, or places where the surf gets higher than 8 feet 36 days per year. the station must be within a distances of a breakin bar
OMG dude i hate to be a jerk. But my original comment was reply to someone askin where these boats are stationed. everyone in the cg knows the 47 replaced the 44. but i never even mentioned the 44 cause they are not in service. i know what u are sayin, i used to be an engineer on the 47
In Norwey we have NSSR it's work like the RNLI but ther are some differens. This boat the NSSR have is built to help Cargo ships to. Think about a cargo ship some are 75meter tow in 16 knots. and boats som are built to go out to the oil rig in 40 knoots what ever wether conditin. eeh this boat from NSSR is only from 16 to 2 meter. against a cargo ship at 75meter?!
ya that is at the bar at the colunbia i go fishing there at the last storm there were 70 ft. waves i heard it is one of the top ten most deadly bars and the only moter life boat school
I was stationed at the NMLB School and the station at Cape Disappointment in the mid-80's, crewed and was boatkeeper on MLB 44300, 44408 and Triumph. And yes the Columbia River bar is noted as being one of the deadliest/most dangerous bars in the world, it has to do with the volume of water coming out the river, the currents and the nasty Pacific pushing in to the river
Good music with awesome video footage. Served at Yaquina Bay and Chetco River on 44-Foot and 52-Foot MLB's. You can't really appreciate it until you cross the bar and do it! Got out in '97 after 20. Really miss it! Nice Job.
I had an opertunaty to work with a Member of the RNLI, and I must say I am very impressed with the skill and professionalism of its member. To run the entire operation with volunteers, and charity donations is indeed very impressive. The US Coast Guard, Canadian Coast guard and the RNLI are all on the same page, to say one is better then the other is just silly. All three run with a very high level of skill and professionalism.
Currently serving at STA Grays Harbor with a pair of 47' MLB's and the 52' MLB Invincible. I love my job!
