  • His glasses cant sit in his nose.

  • "Fate and Freedom, the ultamit wisdom is dividing the two" my quote.

"free will only exists because of everlasting ignorance" another one of my quotes.

I feel and believe that we are too remain joyful in this captive existence. for through wisdom, sorrow will be conquered

  • Schopenhauer solved this problem in a side note.

  • @selvmordspilot where did you read this?

  • @faheyfan : "The world as will and representation".

  • i like how his head blows up at the very end.

  • I get that, and it's fascinating. Still, what about Schrodinger's Cat and the idea that quantum mechanics aren't necessarily probabilistic, but also paradoxical? Where does free will figure into the paradox?

  • I don't know: I felt safer after reading about the Uncertainty Principle.

  • Possibly the best part of this movie. Thanks:)

  • ATHEIST OR GTFO FAGGOTS.

  • @cbfd234

It's an argument of Freewill vs. Determinism, and he advocates for Determinism. But oooh, how I enjoy atheism and bigotry.

  • @DetectiveSocks What does bigotry have to do with atheism. Classically, most bigots have been theists.

  • @Distortion0

I find that Atheists and Agnostics under the anonymity of the internet, tend to be pretentious. It's not that I have anything against arguments such as Evolution vs. Creationism, I couldn't give a shit if you're a Fatalist or even a Scientologist. I just have a thing for people who don't have regards for other people's opinion.

  • @DetectiveSocks There's a time and a place for regarding other people's opinions. cbfd was as close as you can to being a troll without actually being one. If had something about free will vs. determinism, I would of responded, instead he just through buzzwords together with insults.

  • @DetectiveSocks Do you have respect for a schizophrenic person's opinions on how to live, how to run a country, what is morally just? I didn't think so, THAT is how the logical think about the illogical. Religion is illogical

  • @Magnificoooooo life is illogical dude, and i do have respect for a schizophenic persons opinoins, look a john nash

  • @mustanglp50 Life isn't illogical, what does that even mean? If you're just gunna be like "herpaderp we're just atoms that formed together thats so illogical" then don't even bother replying. It's not illogical because thats what happens under certain circumstances according to the laws of the universe, meaning its as logical as anything could ever be.

  • @Magnificoooooo so your telling me that the freinds you have, the girlfreind/boyfreind you have, and who you want to be are all based on logic? and dont talk shit about ppl with schizophenia, most of them are normal hard working ppl,

  • @mustanglp50 yes actually, they are my friends because we have similar personalities and interests.. thats logic. whos talking shit? my uncle and my grandpa are both schizophrenic but that doesn't mean I'll listen to their opinions on the origins of the universe and the meaning of life because they're batshit crazy

  • @Magnificoooooo so your telling me that if a schizo wins a nobel prize you wouldnt listen to them, and to say that similar personalities is equal to logic is bullshit, your missing my point, im saying that the universe by itself is unpredicable and chaotic, as is nature, physics and science constantly change, and until we have definitive pr

  • @mustanglp50 the Universe, however chaotic it is.. still has fundamental laws that bind it, physics and science constantly change but we have a lot of the basic root ideas down, sure new information comes all the time and we add that to the hypothesis and theories, but that doesn't mean what you think it means.

What? I said I am friends with people that have similar personalities and interests and THAT is logical, to be friends with someone who I hate would be illogical.

  • @mustanglp50 How many schizo's have won a nobel prize?

    Yeah, thats what I thought.

  • @Magnificoooooo john nash you stupid motherfucker ive said that like 10x, and most ppl who have it tend to have above average IQs because of an overactive brain

  • @mustanglp50 ignore my other point and jump to insulting me? you named one person, like I said I have family members with schizophrenia.. I know how it effects people.

John Nash was mathematically smart, but I wouldn't ask him to explain the origin of the universe or his thoughts on God because HE WAS BATSHIT CRAZY, deny the fact that he was crazy as fuck and you're just confirming that you're retarded

  • @Magnificoooooo what other point ? you mean your idea that every aspect of everyones life is based off logic, thats the biggest load of bs ive ever heard, and yes, i will isnult you for arguing with me after i have said the same damn thing 10x in a row, but hey, your right mathematically smart ppl like steven hawking and albert einstein have NO CLUE of how the universe begain or thoughts of god

  • If I didn't take philosophy before watching this movie, I would be so confused.

  • @lilbean212

    I disagree.

  • The very brief, and incomplete, synopsis of what I'm saying is this: there are forms and systems of logic, and some of them are considered to be more logically sound or reasonable than others. Using certain systems of logic, without completely understanding the foundation of the logic used to construct that system, can often lead to fallacious reasoning--that may very well "sound" reasonable or logical without actually being so.

I follow Kant's system delineated in Critique of Pure Reason.

  • @Cynic2701 That's a bit unrealistic and perfectionist of you, don't you think?

  • Theodicy is the actual philosophical term, for which the conceptualizations of freedom and free will (which are discrete concepts) are necessary and apropos for investigation. Wikipedia's article one theodicy is 300 years out of date--it is not useful for proper understanding.

The reasoning used in this video is grounded in "a posteriori" motives and laws: its very epistemological foundation is fallacious.

  • Youtube comments are not a proper place for such a discussion: 500 words is not enough to properly communicate, nor is the environment conducive to reasonable discussion.

In as brief an explanation as possible, I direct you to the following works: Immanuel Kant's "Critique of Pure Reason", "Critique of Practical Reason", "Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals", and Friedrich Schellings "Philosophical Investigations into the Essence of Human Freedom".

  • @Cynic2701 Kant is a fucking idiot!

  • @driekone how can you say Kant is a fucking idiot? i agree somewhat but at the same time you gotta respect a lot of his philosophical ideas. he is one of the greatest philosophers of all time. even hume and other empiricists respect him.

    and @Cynic2701

a theodicy is an argument for the existence of god. Ex. St. Anslem's argument. god is great, life is great ergo god is real.

  • @skatezombieBITCH He became an idiot when he came to realize that metaphysical concepts and the "thing-in-itself" are unattainable by the human mind, yet still says something along the lines of, "but it still has to be there somehow." He left the door open for ridiculous concepts like the categorical imperative, or absolute truth regarding morality. So what I meant was, Kant became an idiot, as Nietzsche said.

  • @driekone true true. we just finished him in my existentialism class and the prof said pretty much the exact same thing and used the same nietzsche quote.

  • To be honest I had to laugh at how absurd and ridiculous that character's conception of free will is. The truth of the matter is that his speech actually says nothing at all about the nature of free will. Though I agree that free will is a problem that is difficult to conceptualize, I find that the majority of people's understanding of free will is hopelessly flawed.

Aside from his ignorance of modern theodicy, he makes some serious epistemological errors, and his reasoning is vague at best.

  • @Cynic2701 I'm curious as to what you would've said.

  • @Cynic2701 I am curious to know how you perceive free-will... This speech is pretty bare i mean he is discussing free-will vs. determinism using logic and contemporary physical theories.... And im not sure how Epistemology plays into this either... i dont see how free-will vs. determinism has anything to do with the philosophical problem of defining knowledge... either your a pseudo intellectual being an ass, or you are way over my head. If its the later, then im interested... PM me?

  • @gitnerd Not sure what he meant either. If you have a better grasp of his logic, then PM me

  • @Cynic2701 well what is your reasoning and explanation of free will?

  • how the fuck does this only have 81 views.

    that was awesome

  • @Tiki362 It was only uploaded a few days ago.

  • Wow...

    That was great.
