The first thing I would think in this situation is death and Allah.. all praises to Allah for making their flight safe to be able to go back to Singapore. Was it flying with 3 engines?
the pilot sounded very claming every one would have lloked up checked the checked the boxes shut looked down tapped there life jsacket looked back up at staff then looked at seat belt sign. The poor little Indonesions would have been like the gods must be crazy
There have been many such failures with this plane. Rush to get it into operation...to hell for safety...it's the money folks. It's only a matter of time before one of these monstrosities goes down. Talk about carnage.....OMG.
Faults info. There was flight control problem. The turbine disk broke into three pieces and one when inward to the fuselage and damage some flight controls such as some spoilers, anti skid, power control to engine #1 etc. Also not only was it smoke, the plane was leaking fuel the entire time since the explosion as another piece hit the wing and made a hold in the fuel tank. If you followed up with this case, the pilot that day actually claim the left wing ended up 10 tons lighter then the left
how can u easily make a video and say it was JUST an engine failure and its easy to land with 3 engines? last night Captain Richard de Crespigny, the captain of the airplane, was telling us (at Griffith Uni Aviation meetings) that its not 1 engine failure, the fact is two engines were out of the control due and 50% of the computers off due to the cut in the wing (which cut many sensors cables) and massive petrol leak and finally landing with 50 tons over weight with high speed landing in runway
@hemidesign this is not the first time that rolls Royce has had problems with its engines, its 777 engine had flaws too with a British airways plane, it had something to do with ice but I forget. In Ohio (where I am from) they make the GE90 engines (the GE engines for the 777), the most powerful engines in the world! You can never go wrong with american brands.
@LukeNAESA10 do ur research b4 u post. the P51 Mustang was the best fighter in WWII. at least we have cars with REAL engines, not some turbo diesel piece of shit car that can fit into a cereal box.
@Lworld63 Not, the Spitfire was, even the Germans wanted the Spitfire over their planes. And we can get more HP out of a 2 liter engine than you guys can with a 6 liter one.
@LukeNAESA10 you can't get as much horsepower out of a 2 liter, you can get more torque though. I remember driving an audi a4 which had a 2 liter tdi in tuscany and it preformed so terribly, it would always stall out (yes I know how to drive a stick shift properly). plus we are americans, and we like to supersize everything. i don't know what models GM, Ford and Chrysler have over where you are, but they are much better here in America. If you had a Ford F150 or a Chevy suburban you would agree.
@LukeNAESA10 I know that the american auto industry has taken a huge hit but they are making a HUGE comeback. GM has put out some great new american models and there are probably some good ones headed your way! DETROIT FTW!!!!!
@LukeNAESA10 cars have nothing to do with it......our planes were and still are the best in the world. be thankful your our ally. and the best fighter of WWII was the P51.
@LukeNAESA10 spitfire was a great fighter.....but the FW190 would smoke it. Ive flown all except the FW190. l liked the rate of climb in the spit the P51 was just pure devastation. The FW190....I put an offer in to buy it but the guy wouldnt sell...im still looking for one. I already own a 3/4 scale Fokker dr1. I know what im talking about so maybe you just stop posting and listen.
yeah i spoke to the A380 Captain just on monday, David evans ... and the story is really great and shows the great technical advances on the Airbus aircraft. If it wasnt for the the Aircrafts Systems the plane would have rolled over and crashed.
@RZ3296 The Airbus A319 is a dual engine plane. The Airbus A380 has four engines. You can clearly see two engines under the wing. Two more on the other side make four engines. Just google "Airbus A319" and you will see that it has only two engines.
@philsmoviesinc Correct. A300 and A310 were wide-body twin jets; A318/A319/A320/A321 are narrow-body twin jets, A330 is wide-body twin jet and A340/A380 are the only four-jet Airbus products. You already know this, I'm just preaching to the rest of the choir.
@hemidesign whats the difference idiot? do you not understand this failure is Qantas's fault engines dont just fail in mid flight it has a reason say poor maintenance?
@hemidesign how am i a moron? your comparing 2 brand of jet engine with top of the line engineering apples and oranges clearly your out of your league here
Who cares who is to blame! This kind of stuff can kill people. It should not be happening on such new planes. This monstrocity is a disaster waiting to happen.
It was really Rolls Royce's fault, though Airbus has some blame as well. The engines on this beast in fact were not able to handle the huge amount of thrust required to lift this plane off the ground. Many of these engines had to be replaced and Airbus 380 pilots were instructed to limit the amount of thrust applied during take off.
@captainpilot27 Have you actually BOTHERED to follow this incident? The ATSB found a defect in part of the Trent 900 engine, from memory, 16 Qantas engines have to be replayced as well as 6 or so Singapore ones, it was a design fault! It happens with newish planes!
moreover the plane had recently undergone maintenence at Rolls-Royce. I'm sick of uninformed people blameing Qantas just because it's an Australian airline—if it had happened to Singapore we wouldn't be having this conversation.
The guy says that the explosion did not affect the flight controls. This is not correct. The pilots experienced a large degradation to the flight controls.
A380 is the best plane around. nothing happened like this in singapore airlines, lufthansa, virgin atlantic and all who ordered a380's except qantas. Man maybe qantas has a problem. It's complex design, the safety and even the blades were tested and the airbus wasted almost half a billion just for an engine blow out testing
@captainpilot27 duhh u moron, it is designed my the same manufacture Airbus! All Qantas did was change it's apperance, to the 'Qantas Logo'! it was not Qantas's fault it was proberbly Airbus, or Rolls Royce!
@aabbii93here Oh, ok, what your trying to say is that qantas hadn't made any cost savings, and there planes were not maintaind in third world countrys! ha, laugh!
omg god they were lucky , i didnt realize the explosion shrapnel punctured through the wing lucky they didnt damage any hydraulic pipes or even a fuel tank the flames could have ignited it very lucky
On the news now Australia has reported that after the investigation they have found that the Rolls Royce turbine engines used on the Qantas A380 has defects.
what is with you people?? How can Qantas or the Airbus be blamed for these incindent?? The Rolce Royce engines is not good!!!!! RR sucks, not Qantas or Airbus!!!
Well it did actually affect the flight controls. there were something like 50 problems with wings etc
