  • I have seen this movie over 20 times and it still never gets old!!!!!

  • How do you say "This is why you'll never get laid" in Na'vi?

  • Very nice, i should learn more Na'Vi and saw the film 14 times in theaters in 3D and 2D

  • I am amused.

  • 'Ivong Na'vi!!

  • Irayo ma frapo!

  • Kaltxí Tawtute! Oe ftia Na'vi :D

  • they need to start making avatars now if they say its a simple thing then let them do it and let us have our dreams cometrue and then itll probably take about 20 years before they can find the planet and i just wanna be alive to see it before i die it will be like a dream a meichle itll make me cry

  • This is seriously cool :)

  • irayo, ma tsmukan..

  • dude this is freaking amazing!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I actually managed to rip it off of blu-ray (which I bought) and play it on my netbook. now I have it wherever I go!! ok i'm a bit obsessed, i admit it. now i just need to learn the language.

  • Txantsan !!

  • awesome movie! i CRIED WHEN THEY WERE BURNING DOWN THE FOREST THOUGH.

  • It's just AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding :D

  • One word: ownage

  • why the hell are the na vi speaking english?

  • Because Dr Augustine set up a school with the Na'vi and taught them English. The thing I wonder about this was where they began in teaching each other, not understanding each other.

  • @jpgrygus Because Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) built a school and taught some of their children, including Neytiri and Tsu'tey, english. Wich is also the reason she invented the avatar-program, for easier interaction with the na'vi.

  • Can I learn this language easy with a(ny) Dutch guide? Please.. I want to learn it :)

  • @GameStudiosNL Beetje laat, maar er zijn inderdaad nederlandse hulpmiddelen op het forum :D

  • Those are very liberal translations, but I suppose they have to be, given our somewhat limited vocabulary so far :D

    Good job, anyways.

  • Not really, some of them are literal but most of them have very different meanings from the literal english and many of them say slightly different things (due to the limited vocab, as you mentioned)

  • whoops, I misread what you wrote, thought you said 'literal'

  • No problems :D

  • Why do i think this "language" is like Romanian?

  • Because you don't know the first thing about Romanian? :)

Nu seamănă nici măcar vag cu româna, habar n-ai ce vorbeşti. ;)

  • Oh my God.

First Star Was and Star Trek, now Avatar?

    Mankind is doomed.

  • Now I have even less of an idea what you're talking about. Keep it up, soon you'll be speaking a completely different language. :P

  • I am talking diffent language. :-D

  • This is just legit

  • I think the Na'vi language will surpass Klingon as most spoken fictional language

  • @SEMAT56 Klingon isn't even a fully developed language, it's just gibberish. Na'vi is several real languages, romanian, latvian, tzwahili etc. merged into one. Kinda like what Tolkien did for the elf-language in lord of the rings, by mixing wellish, finnish, russian and latvian words into one language. In Star Wars and Star Trek they just spewed gibberish that sounded like a language.

  • @Creaturelover18

Klingon is actually almost as much of a language as Na'vi.

  • @SEMAT56 One example of Star Wars: You know that the different races speak, supposedly, their own languages, but listening closely you notice that it's all in all the same, but they change little details. Like Jabba for instance, the word he says almost constantly is "chuuba", and you can also hear the ewoks say it once in a while.

  • That is so great!

  • what's the song that starts at 1:50?

  • Cool :-)

  • this is the best film and the best language in the world

  • Oel ngati kameie

    Irayo, tsìng tanhì

    Eywa ngahu, ma tsmuktu!

  • I have no words for the level of awesomeness!

  • Im really wondering that this is not only a "Speak and let it sound cool" language but a real working language developed for the film with grammar, pronounciation and so on...

If im inforemd right it took about 4 Years to develop it to its last and known point.

Good job man keep going (forgotten the Professors name xD)

  • Na'vi is indeed a fully developed language - at least in terms of phonology, grammatical structure. The vocabulary needs expansion for day-to-day communication, but it is indeed real.

Credit for this language goes to Paul Frommer, a linguist at USC.

  • @LearnNavi do you get in touch with paul frommer because of development of language, grammar and new words??

    need answer.

BTW - awesome video, best on YT

    favorited, 5*

  • on occasion we get brief responses from him, but, generally, no.

  • They do indeed. I am a member, and we do have pretty frequent updates from ma Pawl. :P

However, he does get A LOT of e-mails. :P

  • You shouldn't use "ma" in front of "Pawl" when you're not talking to him. ;)

  • That is true :P

    Txan Irayo :D

  • "Fìtsenge... FÌTSENGE AWNGEYÄ!!!" <3

  • LOL, this is so awesome there's people out there so nerdy XD. What's the Na'vi word for madness again?

  • keyeung

  • i have eight pairs of 3D glasses. that how many times my and my girlfriend went to see this lol.

  • Yeah I know what you mean. I'll soon get my 5th pair of glasses!

  • OMG The Na'vi language! lol

  • best

  • Is there a reason why I went four times to see it!!!!!!!!!???????? YES, the answer is YES!!!!!

(sorry the list is too long!)

  • best movie ever

  • Oh my goodness, excellent, well done! it's very a exciting video. I'm definitely interested in learning the Navi's language, it's AWESOME.

  • wow now i can learn the words in the trailer in na'vi!!!!!!

  • this movie is the shit! omg ive seen it like a gazillion times...at least see it once in theaters they are trying to break all records with this movie...its already the top grossing worldwide film in box office ever! people who say to go watch it online watch in theaters first i really recomend u do that first

  • very nice 5*

  • haha, this is awesome:D

  • This is offical right?

When did so many words appear?! o_o"

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!

  • I agree. There should be a feature on the DVD/Blu-Ray that has one of the subtitle options as Na'vi. But anyways this Vid is awsome Great Job. You guys should do other famous movie clips like Star wars,Godfather, titanic and have the words translated in Na'vi. Just a thought.

  • Great job! You guys are awesome. For those of you being a little picky about the translations, please understand how new Na'vi is. We don't have that large of a vocab, so a lot of this is not direct translation. Hopefully one day we'll have neough that we can play around a lot more.

  • Whos votes for a full na'vi dub of the film?

  • @Xecromancer it's a must :P

even if it's only a fan dub

  • @Xecromancer There already out there . The hard part is finding them

  • @Xecromancer I do!!!!!

  • @Xecromancer me too, I want a na'vi subtitle for the whole movie =)

  • Good job i know na'vi ^^

  • and another Titanic in Na'vi is Titanic , why is it the same?

  • because it's a borrowed proper noun (and also because we have no easy way to say Titanic).

  • '(San) Taytänìk (sìk)' would have been better.

  • Well, we decided that with borrowed words we weren't going to put them in Na'vi phonetics since these are (obviously) going to be meant to be read really fast by a human and not a Na'vi. You're right though, that should probably have had the san and sìk on it.

  • @BornEntertainment Because they don't have an own word for it. Like in Japan, they don't have an own word for computer, so they say computa

  • it kinda sucks that the Na'vi don't hav an alphabet, btw im Txantslusam Skxawng on the learn Na'vi forum

  • At the end, "written by..."

Is there now a word for "to write?" "Unili'u?"

  • This is a made up compound word, not sure how we came to it.

  • Sure, but doesn't that break a rule for 'tute' to not make up new concepts if it's not yet canonized?

  • Well, in the end we had to make compromises, same as with the Na'vi Only forum, there's just somethings we had to temporarily make up since we have no way to say it.

  • Sìltsan! Nì'aw tsa'u eyktanta lì'fya nìNa'vi nimvew tìng mikyun oe.

  • Swoka Swizaw on the LearnNa'vi board, btw.

  • Not really sure what you're trying to say there.

    Ta Ftiafpi

  • "Good. That's all I wanted to hear from LearnNa'vi board leader." More or less.

  • Oh, I translated it as "Good, only that thing Na'vi language leader wanted listen me."

  • Well, OK. Um, what should it have been? There is no word for "hear," as far as I know. And "LearnNavi board" isn't exactly Na'vi 101.

  • to hear is 'Stawm'

  • OK. thanks.

  • hi skxawng :P

    Ta Ftiafpi

  • OMG You're the legendary Ftiafpi!?

  • OMG You're the legendary Seabass!?

  • "Tsa'u oe neu ta eyktan leLearnNa'vi stivawm nìwotx."

That thing is everything I want to hear from a LearnNa'vi:ly leader.

    Perhaps? Hard sentence.

  • Thanks...

Though, isn't "want" NEW? Sorry to correct, I'm a stickler.

  • It doesn't matter, really. They both point towards the same pronounciation. It used to be "neu" but I think they changed it to "new" now to be consistent with other words using the "w" instead of "u".

  • neu means want...

    Neu = want

  • Question(from me): Kaltxì ma eylan, ngaru lu fpom srak? Answer(from friend): Srane Answer(from me): Sìlstan I talk a bit Na'vi ( or is it nìNa'vi ? ) with a friend and when we start a talk its always the same beginning and its kinda boring

  • Mevofuve? 20 in octal is 24 wich is mevosìng. I think i should post it in learnnavi original thread... (mevofu is 26 octal and 22 decimal) and why -ve suffix? it's like english th suffix?

  • Yeah, this is an error. Oeru txoa livu.

  • @robertwalters - double negative is common in Na'vi :D And not only double, there can be even more negatives in one clause :D

  • We need a dub ¬¬

  • Txantsan.

  • Irayo!

  • WOOT! This is awesome.

    Ta Ftiafpi

  • Irayo, ma tsmuktu!

    Uniltìrantokx yawne lu oer.

  • this is copius amounts of win!

    (redub next?)

I think the line "You're not in Kansas anymore" has a double negative?

Aynga ke terok mì Kansas I would think :P

  • well, Na'vi doesn't turn double negatives into positives so saying "you're not occupying not Kansas anymore" is correct.

  • Ohh excellent! I love it!

it baffles me how some people could be fluent in the Na'vi language in barely two months!

  • A proficiency of grammar, which, for me, is the real test of any language, and an ever-growing dictionary is all one really needs...

    Srane, ma tsmuk!

  • Txantsan!

  • Irayo ma tsmùkan for that great video!

  • Sìltsan!

  • Irayo

  • lawlawlawlawlawlawl

  • Irayo!

Ty for the nice work :)

  • fantastic :)

  • Just when I thought the avatar trailer couldn't be any more awesome! Tewti...

  • cool :)

  • Aylì'ufa CzechDDR, fì'u txantsan leiu! Tìkangem asìltsan.

    /Is.

  • Irayo! Beautiful! :)

  • Txantsan. Irayo :)
