The US was still the most prosperous and free nation at the time and it would have gone very differently if the people didnt eventually succumb to the financial terrorism done by the banks (largely controlled by Britain). They were the ones who pushed for a central bank while real patriots like Jefferson and Jacksons fought against them. Centralized control over the economy is pretty much the opposite of free markets.
