  • well said mac

  • It's hard to say whether or not I support the health plan since nobody knows what it is yet. Obama has done a poor job of defining and building support and let wackos define it with lies. No matter what is done we will not be a healthier country unless we put a lot more focus on preventive care and healthier living, and make the relationships more about patient/doctor and less about patient/bureaucrat. And that's hard to do since so many make money off the inefficiency of the status quo.

  • I certainly agree that profit really needs to be removed from the system.

  • Thanks SMN, I appreciate it. I'd love to see this discussion opened up for a vote of the people, not our supposed representatives. I know that isn't realistic, but I bet we'd all have health care in this country.

  • Totally agree mac

    Vid coming.

Not at a camera right now

    Jp

  • Sounds good!

  • ...excellent vlog mac...

  • Leafy! Hope you're doing well my brother.

  • health care is not a right. You do not have the right to the labor of a doctor. Nobody should have to make you medical supplies. If you have the right to health care, that means other people have to do things for you. They do not. If you want water, food, or health care, you have to get it yourself.

  • That is a really interesting perspective, and currently you're correct, but it doesn't answer my basic question. Would you, holding the sole vote, cancel the current entitlement programs?

  • Yes I would cancel Social Security and Medicare. Social Security is supposed to be a forced savings program. I think people should be able to decide when to spend or save their own money. Medicare amounts to a huge transfer of money from the young to the old. If the government didn't tax away your money during your working life, you would have the money to invest in health care later on when you retire.

  • We do owe our wounded veterans, so I am in favor of giving them either cash or medical care. I believe a less regulated system would help many of the problems you described. To pay for cancer treatment if you need it, you should be able to have an "oh shit" insurance policy, that kicks in only if you have a serious and very expensive medical problem. You could pay cash for normal doctor visits and drugs. Currently that is illegal.

  • I don't know if you do videos but you have an interesting perspective, it might be an interesting talk if you're interested.

  • dude I miss your vlogs like this....I want to see more

and I agree with you 100%

  • I 2nd that!!

  • Thanks brother Matrix!

  • Dude Im Canadian so to me this is a NO BRAINER..... I have healthcare and enjoy the luxury of knowing its there whenever i need it. Its not free but affordable. Our system has its problems, But its affordable and always being improved. What I do like is if I really really needed to get to the front of the line I can just drive down to the USA PAY CASH and get to the front of the line before most Americans.

  • lmao, I believe it.

Thanks for the comment, it's nice to hear from someone who has experienced one of the national options for healthcare.

  • So if you really need care you drive 2 the US and PAY CASH! LOL!!!!!!

  • MBV, you realize we have lines now right? When is the last time you got a same day visit? I have as good of insurance as they come and I can't get in under a week or two wait.

  • I see doctors every few weeks and I find that with the exception of my heart DR I can get in right away and any test is same day unlike the rest of the world.

  • Just in the last year I have had three MRI's and an X-Ray along with a shit ton of blood work and they have been all same day! That just does not happen in the rest of the world...

  • Ha, I want your doctor brother, I can't get that to happen here!

  • 2 month wait to see my dermatologist. and i pay him cash.

to your comment above, i agree about the foreign aid. we could stop sending all that money to israel, for example.

btw, when i still had military insurance and came back to the US, i was pleased w my VA doctor. just sayin. it was tricare.

  • Two month wait WOW! Only my cardiologist keeps me waiting 4 that long. Yep cut Israel off along with the rest of those blood sucking bastards who hate us anyway! Tricare has come a long way however the best part of Tricare is the civilian health care professionals. IMO! Was your Doc a military or civilian Doc?

  • he was either still in, or a civilian who had served. i cannot remember what he wore under his white coat. but he was a good dr to me. would go back to him if given the choice.

  • Thanks for chiming in Lea!

  • No if I need care and want to go to the front of a line I can go to the USA and pay cash... In canada they dont have cash registers in the hospitals.. If you go to a clinic you can pay cash for a boob job but not heart bypass. Heart bypasses are free. Boobs are like 2,500.00

  • lmao, now that is a sentence I didn't think I would read today.

  • are you free to pay cash to a Canadian doctor or hospital and get the care right away?

  • Why would he drive 2 the US if he could get the cash hook up in Canada...

  • I'm just trying to confirm for sure. I imagined he could mean the care was available in Canada but for some reason, such as superior quality care, he would choose to come to the US when paying cash.

  • nope. You get in line, If your bleeding you go in front of the guy who is not bleeding. its based on priority. Some people have to waite for a knee operation while they use the surgery room for a liver transplant. I answered the Cash question best with the boob job answer. Boobs cost 2,500.00 for like really nice boobs. But heart bypass surgery is free.

  • so its illegal for a doctor to offer you surgery outside of the state system? Can a doctor go to jail for this? Can you?

  • well they have to do the surgery in a government hospital system, so they cant just pop open a private clinic. I could be wrong but that would be the first time in years if I was. Jail is a great place it also has fee health care in Canada.

  • lmao, dude, I don't know why your way of explaining things makes me laugh but it does. Awesome answers, thanks for taking the time, it's very interesting stuff.

  • I believe we need a one world system that helps out all of mankind in such a way that we help the human race and not our fuckin' wallets. Impeach the political system and implement Brass Tacks. ;) We need more Education and less oppression through the media, we all must unite and come together or we are going to continue to be boiled alive without even knowing the flames were lit. At least this is how I feel now.

  • Larc0 is starting the revolution!

  • A single payer system is what we need, medicare for all. Constantly worrying about getting ill in this country, is not freedom.

  • Couldn't agree more.

  • Mac...Thank you soooooooooo much for this video.

My sister does not have coverage for her pregnancy because, it is a Pre-Existing condition. A baby is a condition...Nice huh?

My mom is on medicare and she is paying 80.00 a month out of her SSI pay. She is using her SSI to pay medicare.

The VA is a joke. They treat our veterans like crap my dad died in a VA Hospital with Stage 4 cancer which could have been treated.

My MIL has 4 jobs and NO health insurance so no more arthritis meds GRR

  • We need to reform ALL of these programs and if anyone can do it..I believe it is Obama. (if he doesn't go half way)...We need to get this fixed.

Thanks so much for this video and I miss YOUR discussion videos....

    GREAT POINTS!!

  • Thanks...

  • The thing is the VA IS government ran healthcare and if Obama care passes that is what you will get the same health care your dad had! Free at what cost??

  • I stand by my response MBV.

  • Comment removed

  • Trust me you dont want 100% Government ran health care! Take a tour of a VA hospital and then ask yourself if you would want that for you or your family. I know firsthand what I am talking about as I spent three months in a military hospital and could tell you some horrifying stories.

  • We need to fix some things in our system like preexisting conditions but that can be done without going full out Canada. You are a young idealist my friend and I hope I still know you in ten years so I can remind you of some of the ideas you had LOL!!

  • BTW... Five Stars!!

  • ha, no answer to my question. I have no doubt the VA could be better, my question was are we better with or without it. For 47,000,000 people they don't even come up to the quality of care you're upset with. Do you vote yes for them, or do you vote no?

  • As long as I get 2 keep my INS then I am cool with paying 4 the 47 mil however how do you propose we pay for it?? And please dont say tax the rich

  • I'm sure there are a lot of ideas but right off hand some places I'd like to see looked into would be Leave Iraq, use buying power to pressure price reductions and remove the ability for insurance companies to profit off of denying care.

  • FYI we are never leaving Iraq no matter what your boy told you in order to get elected. I would be cool with disbanding the post office in order 2 pay 4 health care. Another good choice would be to cancel most foreign aid. Also cut out all student aid if people want their education paid 4 they can do what I did and join the military. Anyway sacrifices will need 2 be made but you will get your not so free health care

  • The post office will become irrelevant without any help from outsiders, the rest we'll never agree on but you know I think you're awesome. Crazy, but still awesome.

  • ...:)

  • It's interesting to see the venom in these town hall meeting from people who I'm sure can't afford the current high end care they might need if they suffered a life-threatening condition.

I wonder if they actually think about what they're so angry over? Great video, Mac.

  • Thanks, my first supporter from the medical profession, it's DrPoe! ;)

  • ★★★★★

  • Thanks Casey.

  • Hard for me to say much, except im all for it. I havent had insurance in years... and it is so expensive. It is not a luxury... its a need. We need water, food, sleep, medical assistance. All things we need so we dont die. A country full of sick weak people without medical insurance... that is not ethical, nor will it help keep money flowing to help the economy

I have a pre existing heart condition, so im screwed either way...

    Great vid Mac <3

  • Agreed all around. Thanks for chiming in, you're awesome.

  • Cinder 4 the WIN!!

  • Ha, agreed. The answer is to deliver on the promise instead of finding reasons not to.

  • Nice to hear from you on a serous subject.... well done.

  • Thanks bro, appreciate it. A lot of times I'm not sure if people like this kind of video so I try not to over do them.
