  • with compliments!! and good to see "young" people playing old songs!!

    Go on!!

  • @peter160266 Thank you very much!!!!!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Can I ask why you're playing it in such a different (wrong)key?

  • @jeremykyleftw The reason I am plying it in the key I am is because the Little Phatty has a smaller scale than the minimoog and there was no way to play the notes Gary played in, I was also going for a different version.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • @jeremykyleftw Its a cover so it doesn't matter what key he plays it in !!!

  • @machman05 I was just asking a simple question, keep your hair on.

  • If anyone is looking for the MIDI files of numan's songs I've uploaded a video with tons of files in the description.

  • dude, great version. Thanks for posting. I like the tempo as well. What some fail to realize is a cover of a song does not mean an exact reproduction....

  • @jody8526937 Thank you very much!!!!!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Awesome! wish I could sound like that.

  • @coketherealthing Thank you! Ah, you could sound like this.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • played well, good stuff, could listen all day

  • @wasp09 Thank you very much!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • For goodness sake use the right keys

  • Excellent !!

  • @GCom67 Thanks!!!

  • i like this!

  • @replicas79 Thank you!

  • hey can you tell which notes you played for the opening riff please,

'cause i play the original version but i like this one to

  • @mr2000aaa Sure, this song starts out in D and it goes like this. D,D, A----, C,C,G----, D,D, A----, C,C, A, F#. This is just a rough note guide but hope this helps you out.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Have you ever heard the original Video? You are to fast! Slow down a little bit, please!

Ok, you are young and you want to try on and on and...;o)...

  • Comment removed

  • YES THE FATTY ;o) Good job man! Although I have to say, coming from London..... To me "subjectively", you have a "frieggin" wicked accent ;o). Wondered.... I've got a SH201 too, but am not warming to it as much a s i thought.. What are your thoughts?

  • @johnnynrg Thank you on both the playing and my accent. Yes, the SH-201 is not a very powerful synth at all and can be very fake sounding at times. If Roland would have put a better filter in it, I think it would be a much better synth. I like my SH-201 but only as a backing synth. It is great to add back tones to my work. It is a unique little synth on its own and for that, I like it but I could never compare it to a moog or any other analog synth.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • @synthpro Yeah, just as i thought, got the same kind of feeling for it, which is sad..... Though, it can be very similar to the old JP800 for backing strings, which i do have as well. Thin my main problem with the keyboard are the keys, when recording down a midi data track in my DAW, i find that (and i don't profess to have maestro keyboard skills at all), that the surrounding keys are overly sensitive..... Cleaning up afterwards can be a bore around 128bpm lol

    much luv fella ;o)

  • It's always amazing when somebody actually does a good cover of a good song. Great job.

  • @FerHivore Thank you very much!!!!

  • wow!!! i love gary numan, this is awsome, well done!!! :D

  • sounds great Kid

  • God has really blessed you. Please keep playing!!

  • @centaurus777 Yes, I have been very blessed! Thank you very much for watching!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Hey that was gr8 well done m8 I can tell u quite like moog lol I'm a yamaha fan myself but I still love moog they produce such a gr8 sound. It's also gr8 to see people like u and me still listing to Gary he is a phenomenal rock star and will always be remembered, just a quick question if u dont mind me asking in total how much is all your gear worth

  • @robnuman100 Thank you very much! Yes, moog is one of my favorite synth companys, but Yamaha is also in my list of favorite synths. I actually had a Yamaha DX-7 back when I was very young, it was actually my mom's synth, but I would play on it all the time. I am guessing that back when I made this video, I had about $10,000 in all my equipment. I now have about $16,000. That is including stands, cables, etc.

    Thanks agian and take care,

    Jareth

  • @synthpro The DX7 has some interesting sounds. At the moment I have a yamaha motif XF which is awesome I also have a yamaha MM6 and my dad shares his equipment wiv me he has a roland JV 880, Roland JV 1080, a korg wave station, an original Yamaha Motif, a celviano digital piano for the beginners to play on and yamaha grand piano so we have quite a nice setup we also have some guitars as well.

  • @robnuman100 Now I was wondering since u are extremely gd with synthesizers and synthesized music I am wanting to compose and write a few albums so if u don’t mind could u give me a few ideas hear and there and I could give u some ideas as well, if u don’t want to I will understand.

    Take care

    Rob :)

  • @robnuman100 Hi Rob, Yes, I would be happy to help you out.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • @synthpro Thanx M8 thats absolutly fantastic i will post some of my work up when i can. Thanx again.

    Take care m8

    Rob :)

  • @robnuman100 Sure, no problem Rob. Just let me know what you are looking at doing and I will see what I can do to help.

    Synths make me happy.

  • @Beatmyguest001 Thanks!

  • dreadful!

  • You know I hate to ask..... But are friends electric?

  • @Telekon5 Only mine's broke down...... And now I've no one to love.

  • @synthpro lol...:-)

  • I really like the creativity you guys put into this. Thumbs up from Philly!

  • @VanSweringenFilms Thank you! We had fun with this cover.

  • This is really good, well done.

  • @155MikeC Thank you very much!

  • WICKED synth rig. Do you have a live-worthy setup?

  • @saxmachine123 Thanks! Yes, I have a decent live- worthy setup. The only keyboard I will never use live is the polymoog.

  • You're an amazing individual. You're creative and productive and a person of value.

  • @ilovyousob Thank you so very much!!!!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • @TheRichmole Thanks you, I appreciate your comment! Yes, I hope to eventually have some more covers up. Right now I am working more on original songs, but I will be back with some more covers eventually.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Hey Nice version, I play that one a lot, working on one called Photograth from telecon by Gary N & I play loads other stuff of his. Yes, loving the new Juno I've recently got. The chap in the shop is going to give me a had to get cracking on it. Yes, it's a real work station. Cheers from Rich

  • @bestrickie2 Thank you Rich, glad you like it!!

  • i really enjoyed it sounds fucking amazing off that syntho man keep it up, don't care about the wrong notes covers are supposed to be put in your own prespective;)

  • @FutureWarhead Thanks man, I appreciate it.

  • Very very good. I'm not a musician but I respect this effort. Keep it up

  • @DeMachman Thank you very much!

  • wrong notes man!

  • @NitrousExpress2Go I know. I was going for something a little different. I also wanted to play the song on the Moog Little Phatty which only has 39 keys. I need all 44 keys to play this song in the key of C.

    Thanks for watching,

    Jareth

  • whao!! how did u appear like that?, ur fast, i didn't even see u sit down! by da way ur awesome! need a drummer?

  • @mgil479 Haha, Thank you! I may eventually need a drummer. There was actually a drummer playing the drums in this video. He was on the other side of my Little Phatty. He did not want to be in the video.

  • always loved the song - never heard an 'upbeat' instrumental interpretation - love it - and suspect Gary does too if he's watched it. You should do a cover album as I reckon his legion of die hard fans ( of which I count myself one) all sometimes want to listen to something lighter and more smiley than their default taste which normally leans towards the darker, the industrial and the gothic . Cheers for putting this online

  • @Sqdrn1 Thank you very much for the comment!!!! I agree with you.

    Thanks again and take care,

    Jareth

  • That is SOOOOO awesome! You sound great! I hope you do/did something in the music biz as you're really talented!

  • this is awesome, you are awesome! love how that patch sounds :P

  • @brightstarlit Thank you very much!!! Glad you like the patch.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • this is awesome, you are awesome! love how that patch sounds :P

  • .... ugh

  • Hi jareth i like this version even tho its not the 44 keys...:)

  • @soundmanhaven1 Thank you very much!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • i play it diffrently

  • awesome!!!!

  • Thank you!!!!

  • Another wonderful SYNTHPRO video!

As always I'm jealous of your ability and equipment!

(So I'll mischievously point out that 2:33 didn't escape my attention!)

  • Thank you!

You have some good videos yourself. I like some of those jam sessions you have!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • ok. you're playing it wrong.

  • I know. I was not going exactly by the original. I had to play in a different key because of not enough keys on my moog. Also the moog is monophonic so I could not play the chords. I was just having a good time playing around rather than being correct. There are so many different versions of this song played by Gary. If you would like to hear a cover I took seriously listen to my cars cover.

    Thanks for watching.

  • @synthpro well if your moog has 44 keys like the minimoog then you'll have enough keys to play the right notes. and i know the moog is monophonic. i have one myself. and your cars cover is very good.

  • I wish it had 44 keys. The LP only has 39 keys. Thanks, glad you like my cars cover.

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • @synthpro Have you considered a dedicated MIDI keyboard?

  • However, you verison is a very nice version, I like it even if it is different. We don't all have to be parrots in life ;-)

  • Thank you!

  • No offense (it still sounds excellent and covers are open to interpretation), but it doesn't quite have the feel of the original...maybe because it's faster, but also kinda like live programming of a drum machine w/ minimal quantizing. BTW, why not play the AX-80 (which I have) instead of the Phatty MIDI'ed to it?

  • No offense taken.

I was going for something a little different, but actually those drums were being played by one of my friends on the other side of the LP. He did not want to be on camera so I made sure to leave him out. The reason I used the LP is because in the original song the main part of the song was played on a minimoog and I had to have that similar sound.

    Continued-----------------------------------------

  • --------------------- In the original song the Polymoog (AX-80 in my case) was only played in parts and I also did not want to have my back to the camera. I did not want to pre record anything so I would actually be playing every part as well.

I also wanted to play around with the tempo a little bit so I did and some people like it and others don't, but that is the way it goes with every musician that tries something different. Continued-----------

  • Not everyone likes the same things and you just have to take that into consideration when you perform it.

Thanks for your comment and for watching!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Sweet cover! Numan rules! GREAT PLAYING! Your studio rocks!

  • Thank You!!!

  • Man, i'm looking into buying a synth.

    What do you recommend?

And, i'm kinda on a tight budget. :/

  • Well, That is a hard question. There are two synths that I know of that may be what you are looking for. One is the Korg Microkorg and the other is the Roland SH-201.

Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Take care,

    Jareth

  • Aye, thanks.

Too bad mum already went Christmas shopping. D:

  • Your welcome!

    Maybe next year.

  • whoa man don't touch either, i made that mistake when i was a noob too. second hand roland Jp-8000 is the way to go, or second hand novation a-station or supernova. trust me microkorg isn't the way to go, and definitely not sh-201. thin piece of shit.

  • nice set up mate, numans a one off super dude, your getting there keep it up, shit i sound like a maths teacher lol.

  • Thank you for the kind words and for watching my videos!

    LOL about the math teacher!

  • i think i saw OJ looking thru your window dude, he must be a numan fan, your still alive :)

  • just superb. great job.

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • Wow, you must be really into synths, I like your cover music, because it was dynamic :)

  • Thank you! Yes, I am into synths, but I also like guitars as well.

  • this is still the best version on youtube.love it!just sounds so funky!

  • Thank you, I appreciate your comments and your interest in my work!

  • Nice sound.

  • Thank you!

  • I enjoyed that and although it was faster it still worked.good work

  • Thank you!

  • Excellent playing but, the tempo is too fast.

  • Thank you! I did not realize how fast I was playing until I posted it on here. I may eventually try to redo this cover. I just got done with Gary Numan cars cover. I made it as close to the original version as possible, I even used a polymoog.

    Thanks for watching!

  • dammmmm yo,... ha like I mean holy shit..."it's cold out side" ! ! ! ! ha...you should put this on a disk.. sounds like some 80's up n coming new's program like " tonight on veltrex we have our very special guest..this dude playing numan..HELL YEAH ! ! !

  • Thank you!

  • very nice playing

    5*****

  • Thank you!

you have got some nice videos as well.

  • When will your album come out?

  • I hope soon! I have got copyrights and am working now on the album cover.

  • Bravo! Bit too fast but is sounds like its got a modern tint to it! I should know I was there when the original came out! Good one J ! :)

  • Thank you!

  • don`t forget to chords G D F C.

  • beautiful sounds!!!! I dig the cover! a little too fast, but tempo was probably not your goal =]

now i'm tempted to go grab all my old moog's and roland synths out of the closet =] cheers!!

  • Thank you! Wow, you got a closet full of moogs and Rolands? I just got me a polymoog 280a. That is the one with the Vox Humana preset. Thank you for watching!

  • well, not a FULL closet =]

you have about the same amount of synths i have: polymoog, micromoog, fat man, roland SH3, Roland SH3-a and a Roland JV-80 (horrible synth, but my only 'up-to-date' synth).

  • That is neat! You have got some nice vintage synths. Do you have the polymoog synth or the keyboard model?

  • I have the 71 key synth. not a module.

it's a little rusty and needs some key contact cleaning, but thats not biggie.

Oh, forgot to mention i also have a Roland Juno-60. I modified that synth a bit by adding another oscillator and frequency path blending. even with that, it still sounds like a juno-60 =] maybe someday soon I'll put these synths up for sale..

  • You have got a nice collection. If you ever do put them up for sale, let me know.

  • Excellent cover!! Straight to my favorites :)

Are Friends Electric hit the airwaves in 1979, I was 15 years old at the time...I loved it, and still do today. I'm so glad to see the younger generation still taking interest in this classic Moog music. Gary Numan, and Bob Moog would be flattered!!

Keep up the great work, Dude!!

    5 stars..

    64m >:-)

  • Thanks Man!!!!!!!!! Glad you like it.

  • The two notes you play quickly with your right hand, you go from a note up to a minor.Numan plays A minor down to an E,will sound better, just trying to help, but very good anyway.

  • Thanks for the advice. The reason I played it the way I did was because the Little Phatty does not have enough keys and I wanted to play the moog on the video. Thanks again for the advice and for watching!

  • Play the last black key on the right, then come down 4 keys to an E my friend.

  • I think it sounds great, as it is, to be honest.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I luuuurvedd itt ^______^

  • Glad you loved it. Thanks for watching!

  • through fire and flames if you dare!!!

  • That's a very interesting cover-version - probably the best I've heard - the most confident, too! Well done.

I have to say I thought you would have been too young to know that song, as its 30 years old, now.

  • Thank you! The old music is about the only music I listen to.

  • Well played, but a little too fast.

  • Thanks, I agree.

  • I tried to talk him into being on camera, but he wanted the corner of keyboards to be on camera. We may try to make a better video of this song with him in it.

  • Why is your friend's face not visible? Witness Protection? His drums were awesome.

  • hi synthpro, just thougth id checkback and see your
