Seeing as how the retired still earn income, either via retirement funds or social security, they are counted. You are obviously young and have no idea how the govt works. Overpayment is rarely the reason for the reason that those who comprise the bottom 50% of earners ($30k and below) receive refunds.

The "projects" and government welfare ruined the family unit. Government handouts were not treated like "hand-ups" and the "poor" became dependent on the free money instead of working and improving their lot. They became enslaved again instead of truly freed.

I think most people who are against illegal immigration are just concerned about them taking all the jobs, which is a reasonable concern. However, most Republicans and Conservatives like Bill O'Reilly are just concerned with preserving "the White-Christian-Male power structure" (O'Reilly's words, not mine.) and most of those people support temporary work programs.

@Eaglesfaninca Govt entitlement payments surpassed tax revenues for the first time ever last year. That wasn't all going to people with legitimate needs. Medicare/medicaid suffer billions in fraud yearly, as do food stamp programs. People with a legitimate need dont resort to fraud. You're trying to lump in criminals and those who feel they're owed a living with people who have paid for their benefits (the elderly, vets,etc)
