@B0wserfan I never said that. Since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was essentially a re-packaging of Sonic Adventure 2, I can neither like it nor hate it. Sonic Heroes and Mega Collection were ok I guess. Platformers are outdated? Newcomers won't like them? New Super Mario Bros is the second best selling game on the Nintendo DS, and it's a platformer. Over half of DS buyers are newcomers, as well. That's pretty popular for an "Outdated" genre that newcomers won't like if you ask me.
I'd also have to disagree with your statement about platformers being from the '90s, as they were much more prevalent in the '80s as opposed to the '90s. '90s was more Fighting Games and 3D than Platformers.
I wonder if there will be a lot more levels than Sonic 1-3 in the 90s, because it sure is not that hard to produce a 2D game today, even with better animations, backgrounds and stuff.
I've never been much of a Sonic fan (never played past the Genesis ): ), but I must admit, it looks pretty good so far.
The only thing I'm worried about is that it won't sell as good since most Sonic fans these days are the younger crowd, who aren't familiar with the gameplay/sidescroll (unless they've played Sonic Rush, but I'm not aware of how many side scroller games Sonic has been in past the Genesis.)
Still, the game looks pretty nice, and I have high hopes for it. :)

i like the new sonic games but what made them not as good as the old sonice games is that they turned the chaos emeralds, collecting the emeralds and super sonic into a major part of the plot. like...you HAD to find them and collect them for the next stage. in the old games you didnt have to get them at all. some had it where if you wanted a so called "good ending" you'll need them or the time stones. but you still had the option. i want that in sonic 4.

There was a leaked gameplay video of this.
Apparently the download will only feature FOUR stages, with a bonus stage. The level select layout was layered like an "X" in the main menu.
The gameplay itself though looked very good.

It depends on what you consider to be a "Sonic Game". Sonic 4 is not a sequel to Shadow, or to games like Sonic Pinball. It's a sequel to Sonic 3.

Just to clarify:
Shadow is NOT a villain, he is an antihero, a character who is still mostly heroic, but holds darker values than the conventional hero. He is a necessary plot element. When he was first introduced into the series, he mostly disagreed with Sonic in every way, but he overcame his inner conflicts in Shadow the Hedgehog (game). When Sonic and Shadow team-up, an inevitable occurance, they are like the union of yin and yang-they are unstoppable.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who's looking forward to this well if you have a PS2 backward compatible PS3, Xbox/360 or Game Cube/Wii, you can get the Sonic Mega collection which has the first three games on it... Hell I'm thinking of doing that just to play Sonic 3.

Oh stfu whining you DON'T need live to download the game all you need is the live silver account which is FREE!!! All the gold account is for is to play games online and to maybe get demos before everyone else. So again quit whining and be thankful they are actually bothering to release the game

i like the new sonic games but what made them not as good as the old sonice games is that they turned the chaos emeralds, collecting the emeralds and super sonic into a major part of the plot. like...you HAD to find them and collect them for the next stage. in the old games you didnt have to get them at all. some had it where if you wanted a so called "good ending" you'll need them or the time stones. but you still had the option. i want that in sonic 4.

even though I only saw the game footage for a few seconds, It doesn't look like Sonic is running all that fast, he doesn't even move fast, he just seems to move his legs around a little bit.
But still, this is just a trailer. The game might start improving in design over time.

yeah I think it's only part of it... they said it was emphasizing speed and we know Sonic's been able to move faster before. I think it's gonna be really fast actually. He'll probably spin his feet in a circle (like in SSBB only without it being the peelout but more like the actual circle from the genesis games... like how it was in the Adventure series I guess only more noticable since a lot of people didn't notice his feet went in a circle in the adventure series)
