Both are extremely good headphones and Grado Labs offer severe "bang for the buck" but calling the SR80's "truly waste of money" is not only absurd but greatly exaggerated. If you can afford the "upgrade fee" and have better equipment than an iPod (some sort of external amplification) the SR80s are the way to go. Nice review BTW.

Response PART 1:

The SR80s have a more open soundstage and improved bass response, not to mention the overall improvements in comfort due to the larger ear pads. Also, they will excel when connected to a headphone amp or a hi-fi amp. On the "awards" side, the SR80s were the first headphones EVER to receive the Golden Note Award presented by the Academy For The Advancement Of High End Audio.

well , if you have to choose between 60s and 80's grados, 60 wins hands down, simply because there isnt all this improvement to justify the money gap (really). the JUMP is when you choose the 125s.

so if you can afford them, buy grado sr125, otherwise choose sr60, the 80s are truly a waste of money.
