@CadaversRevenge I think you mean a band called Shpongle? Try typing in "Around the world in a tea daze" Shpongle Live :) I hope they bring you as much happiness as they have brought me! :) Peace
The language is Romani (rom), one of the Gipsy dialects spoken In Hungary, Rumania and the Balkan, It is surely mutually intelligible with Gipsy dialects of Hungary (maybe even identic?). I am not sure if it is exactly Vlax Romani (rmy) or maybe another closely related Romany dialect. As being a Gipsy langauge, it is a minority langauge in all these countries, still, it is a Indo-European language, having grammatical genders, prepositions, flexion (with some agglutination), posessive pronouns.
Ketri, Ketri, come after me, Ketri, Ketri, live with me, Come back, sit down here, Come after me! You are like a little flower, Beautiful little flower, My heart is happy, happy, Be with me! Ketri, Ketri, my heart is heavy, Ketri, Ketri, my heart is breaking, I will kiss your heart, Come and sit beside me
Jaj, Ketri, Ketri, ale pala mande, Ketri, Ketri, phir pala mande, Av tu pale, bes tu tele, Av tu pala mande. Kasaviszan, szar e lulugyorri, Sukár, sukár, cini lulugyorri, Losál, losál, murro jilo, Pasa mande t'avesza. Ketri, Ketri, dukhal murro jilo, Ketri, Ketri, pharol murro jilo, Csumidam me tyiro jilo, Ale pasa mande.
I live in Hungary, I know this song, its language is indeed spoken in Hungary, but it's not Hungarian, but Romani, a Gipsy dialect, part of the Indo-European language family. As such, has grammatical genders, prepositions, possessive pronouns,
In contrast, Hungarian is an Uralic language. Typologically, it presents some similarities to Turkish (suffixes, highly synthetic features, possessive suffixes of nouns, lack of gender). No evidence for direct genealogic reletedness, just areal influence.
Unfortunately, not yet. Ketri seems for me to have a very specific character: most Gipsy musics I know sound different. If You want to listen to authentic Gipsy music, You can search for "Kalyi jag" and "Ando drom". I collect Gipsy musics on my playlist "Gipsy folklore".
@ungazik yes I prefer a version on another hungarian gypsy cd where there is a real sense of power, tradition and presence/authority. Also i listen a lot to balkan gypsy style music, kocani orkestar, road of the gypsies type cds, balkan brass etc etc, hungarian danzhouse etc, would love to see your playlist..Is it possible to transfer it???? good to say hullo...did a fance seminar with Zoltan Nagy for czango some years ago too, fantastic!
interesting
