This device really works well! It fit perfectly and really makes playing the backpacker much more fun. I am not sure but I think it adds a bit to the sound as well. Well worth the money. Very easy to order even in the US. A real gentleman to deal with!
Great thing!!! I'd love to know 2 things... First. Which kind of striong are you sing? Steel or Nylon, sounds like steel to me... Second. Where can I buy this clip-rest?!?! :D:D
Nice job!! You make that backpacker sound exactly like a Gibson J-200....how'd you DO that? I can't get that sound out of MY backpacker! Mine has a solid cedar top...and yours looks instead to have a spruce top. I know Martin down in Mexico, where they're made was trying out different top woods, based upon availibility and price of wood. I wonder if the spruce top makes a difference. Mine sounds WAY more ukulele-like. Standard Tuning?? Extra-light strings??
Hi pragmaticus,it looks like spruce to me, they were a new set of martin extra lights,I've lowered the action, and I was playing in a brick studio, so there's quite some echo. De-tuned to the chord of D. The serial no. is 184,696 I love it, especially with the cliprest. regards Darrell
Yeah...mine is #163,735. Don't know what year...but looks fairly new...I bought it lightly used for $69 !!
I was surprised by the excellent workmanship of the Backpacker...and the high quality, SOLID woods they used. I think the fingerboard is solid rosewood and the sides, back and neck are solid mahogany. The tuners are actually the same tuners that they use on the $2600 Martin D28.
I LOVE my Backpacker also, and DO take it on the trail. I am making a neoprene travel-skin for it.
The Clip-Rest is great! It works great and your craftsmanship is top notch; it looks very stylish on the backpacker.
Thank you for designing and selling this essential accessory for the backpacker. It's great to see that somebody has finally solved the dilemma of playing without a strap. I'm surprised Martin never took the matter up themselves
@PUG1E Yea i thought martin would include something like this by now with the rover trying to take over. I have a backpacker on the way now and would love to have one of these, Reason i got the backpacker over rover. A its a Martin B better built C looks way better ,the rover is cheesy looking. IDK why people hate them and say its not a guitar well look at it,lol its not going to sound like one but thats what i like about it.
@eatthemoon13 in all honesty, i was going to buy the rover but its made in CHINA i just cant support that, martins BP is made in mexico, thats at least connected to the same land mass as i am..... lol the rover has a better body shape to it and thus a fuller sound, it doesnt hold the martin warranty as well
Wow these backpackers sounds like toy guitars.
