this horror film historian can tell you RONDO HATTON underated overlooked actor is IMMORTAL. Illness forced his screen image but hes a great OxTON CREEPER. His 1946 death remains a mystery as told to me by a cast member of House of Horrors.I have a website hiniring these great stars of yesteryear. Pearl of Death is great Sherlock Holmes entry. God rest your gentle soul Rondo Hatton. Youll always be the best there is. Thanks folks. TOMK
I just read that about Robbins, apparently his arrested development of the tumor on his pitutitary gland resulted in no action on his part thus far.
It apparently arrested at a point in time when his features were made more predominant, rather than grotesque. Amazing.
You're a catch yourself, except for that penchant to believe in invisible friends in the sky, quite attractive no matter what diseases you may suffer from.
Richard Kiel (Jaws), Ted Cassidy (Lurch) suffer acromegaly. Pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (HGH) due to tumors(pituitary adenoma). Starts early twenties, associated with gigantism, enlargement of hands, feet, nose, lips ears, thickening skin, swelling of heart, kidneys, vocal cords, a thick, deep voice, slowing of speech, expansion of skull, brow and lower jaw protrusion, teeth gapping. Treatments include removal of pituitary tumors, drugs to slow GH production, unknown then.
Paul Benedict (Mr. Bentley) and Tony Robbins, the movivational speaker evidently also have acromegaly. Rondo Hatton died of heart failure, which used to kill a lot of people with the disease.
I first saw Hatton in some movie when I was about eight years old -- fucked me up for life. I don't think I went ANYWHERE alone in the dark until I was a teenager.
Nice mix - I never forgot the terror of seeing Rondo Hatton for the first time in the cinema.
Did you know he suffered from the bone disease agromegaly? The only other fictional plot involving this that I know of is a forgotten novel 'Harvets Home'.
Sadly,Rondo developed acromegaly after returning from fighting in WWI,having been exposed to mustard gas...coulda been a coincidence though. He was a handsome football star in high school...must've been tough for him to develop acromegaly.
I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my new clip of 1930's cigarette cards of Eleanor Powell, George Formby, Errol Flynn, Gracie Fields, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Fred Astaire, and Vivien Leigh.
I love the way Sherlock perks up when someone mentions drugs lol! Good old Basil Rathbone, the best Holmes by far!!

This may sound stupid to you but it's true. I'm related to Basil Rathbone (admittedly in a very vague way, but proud of it anyway)
He's my Great Great Great uncle-in-law.
See, sounds silly but I like it.
