If - as he clearly accepts - the Lisbon Treaty was a treaty too far and gave away too many more powers then in the subsequent event of it becoming ratified and passed into EU law (as it was following the second Irish referendum result) it would make continued UK membership unacceptable. A single member state cannot unilaterally negotiate a transfer back of power without total treaty revision. In/Out is only choice left now.

I like the notions of referendums but not on the Lison Treaty. who's read it? Who actually knows what it stands for? Basically it effects none of us, it is mearly the formalisation of existing legislation which at the very most has be slighty rejuggeled.
