  • I was gonna say that buick wasted you, lol, nice ride!!!!!

  • @TheBucknutts notice how late I leave on the tree

  • The sound is fucking amazing

  • fuck that thing sound good

  • love your car...not so keen on seeing it get beat on but then its yours...and I've never drag raced but Im sure there are some jitters involved here...but looks like your getting your but kicked off the line ..how come?..they got better reation time?

  • @johncartelli It was just a test and tune, so I was purposely waiting on the tree, I was not racing the guy in the other lane, just waiting till I was ready on the 2 step. Also, i was in a class that ranged from 12.0 to 8.99, so there were plenty of full out race cars lining up against my street car!

  • Love the car, although I'm a little biased, I've got a '68 myself. At 1:23 it looks like you could benefit from a slightly longer shift lever, easy $40 fix from Hurst. That's an easy 10.80 car with some more suspension work, love it! After Favoriting your videos, I guess I've decided on Silver versus the Black that's been creepin' into my mind. Subscribing......

  • @Swiftshifter68 I actually shortened this shifter handle

  • hahaha @ 3:40 ish. He starts with only one hand on the wheel...dumps the clutch...gets scared...moves to both hands on the wheel, then back down to shift. haha

  • @LS6CamaroA4 looked like it was going to make a move towards the wall

  • Used to own a 69 396 / 375 SS 4 sp M22 12 bolt with 4:56 the motor was not stock used to shift like you until I learned how and never lifted again between gears It really does kill your ET and does not help your MPH try NOT lifting between gears ..I used a 90/10 shock with Moroso trick springs cut and installed one air bag in the right rear spring with a good 50/50 shock and NMW ladder bars, car ran 11.os all day long @ 127... Really sweet Chevelle keep up the good work..

  • @TheRoguelement thanks, its just a hard habit to break when youve shifted like that for 28 years

  • So nasty how you have a 2 step controller on that bad boy. Thats such an amazing sound. I hope you have everything repaired and back on the track!! Happy racing

  • i dont know about this car but from other chevelle videos to me its kinda picking up like it has a stock fly wheel..if u have all the high performance stuff please do it all

  • How much power and torque at the crank? or wheels? just curious

  • flywheel exploded eh? did it over-rev and hurt the motor at all?

  • @vans1107 chunks of the flywheel cut up all the MSD boxs and wires so the motor immediately died

  • That burnout was awesome ! Everyone should realize this car could be so much faster if it was lighter but honestly.... who wouldnt that beautiful 427. Literally, the best noise i have heard from a v8. awesome car, and video.

  • @redrooster280zxt the car has run enough mph for a bottom eleven, but cant 60 foot

  • @427ImportEater under 12 is pretty damn fast. i love your car just saying. all these other 600 hp muscle cars have an auto, and its awesome to see a 4-speed lighting it up.

  • my mom used to shift a 3 on the tree faster

  • @05cr125rider your mom sounds pretty bad ass

  • Stroker?

  • @Narutofan1000k 427ci, standard 3.76 stroke

  • @427ImportEater Oh okay, i have a 383 stroker in my 69 chevelle

  • Well you aren't shy

  • so did you lose your foot? Why did you black out the video?I bet you got an SFI flywheel and can on it now.

  • @brock007football thank god i did have a sfi scattersheild on it, the factory cast flywheel exploded along with the pressure plate

  • dude go invest a couple hundred bucks and get some rear control arms, get the umi relocation lowers. Thats why you messed up your flywheel and will probably eventually drop your driveshaft and tranny all together, you got way to much bouncing and wheel hopping, id upgrade your suspension before you have to spend a fortune fixing other stuff.

  • @johnyups Your wrong actually. The wheels appeared to hop once in the burnout, never done that before or since. The flywheel was a cast unit, and was never intended to have 625 horse through it. That was the reason for failure.

  • Also, stop the video at 2:23....you can see it...it's collapsing the tire. It has too much travel in the ass end.

  • @JHaleyH374 10-11 psi in the street e.t's. No slicks.

  • liked the camera work in this one

  • Tighten the rear shocks up and it'll quit the bouncing....it's hitting the tires too hard.

  • @JHaleyH374 the first few passes we had front end limiters in, it was bouncing off them. Took them and the front swat bar off

  • @427ImportEater It's still hitting the tires too hard.....that's the reason why it's bouncing. What kind of tire pressure are you running?

  • nice car! did the motor get damaged at all or was it just tranny related?

  • @bumblebeecbr motor tried to stop the flywheel, flywheel won

  • You need shock extensions. Wheel hoping will go away

  • @acemaster1001 appeared to wheel hop in the first burnout but has never happened after that.

  • what let go on that last pass?

  • @don39s flywheel, along with everything attached to it

  • sounds good

  • Really enjoyed this vid, great shifting, awesome car, lots of great sounds and I'm a Ford guy. Have to appreciate a nice machine :)

  • @red1950stude thank you for the comment, and thanks for checking it out

  • Sexy chevelle,68 or 69? I know it's just a street car but that tire hop is killin you man.

  • @TheDrakenZ 68, no wheel hop to speak of, just a dead hook

  • @427ImportEater nice, and looks like tire hopping while you're doing your burnout.

  • @TheDrakenZ seemed to do that as it bounced off the rev limiter..raised it to 7000 and burned the tires off

  • @427ImportEater ahahaha beautiful. Keep eatin them cute little rice burnin imports man.

  • why are you lifting when you shift ? hold that sucker flat, side step the clutch pedal, grip it n rip it.

  • this is a real car

  • man the sound on that car is glorious!

  • what are you shifting this thing at? 7500?

  • @puremuscle67to74 first couple 7200, I believe one we bumped the limiter at 7400

  • @asitphoto Type in 350 smallblock dyno blowup... theres like 600.

  • My uncles Falcon would eat this thing up...

429 CJ, Supercharged... 4spd... anyway, he has like 50k into it... runs mid 8.9's

  • @SwampBoyJ my friend has a pro mod chevelle that runs 6s...whats your point

  • @427ImportEater Exactly, ProMod...

This car is a weekend racer, and a monday driver... all street legal.

  • @SwampBoyJ Ok, but i have a cousin who knows a guy, who knows a guy, and that guy have a brother who knows a guy who runs 8.8's

  • @asitphoto If it were a Ford it would have stayed together ! I tack my stang to 6500 often with no problems, used to be a Chevy guy myself but started buying Ford and am very happy now not one chevy in my garage ! There is a reason Ford parts are more exspensive... Quality !

  • @asitphoto not sure what you mean by porcupines but this motor is happy past 7400

  • @asitphoto remember this isnt a ford..engine is fine, flywheel let go..

  • Thats my favorite year of the Chevelle. Nice looking car.... runs pretty good too! Nicely done

  • Oh yea I love that car,I Allways liked that color combo.

  • @5BobbyDavis thank you for the comment

  • Enjoy the videos, nice work. Ran a 904 case Super T10 for years behind my 427 and had to freshen it up seemed like every year. Finally was able to save up and get a faceplated liberty 5 speed and love it. Rowin gears and doing it the hardway FTW!!!

  • It's easy for all you guys to type in how to shift. Now get off the keyboard and go do it!Then come back and post it on you tube and see how many tell you what you did wrong.

  • @5BobbyDavis as you probably know, its not the same as shifting a toyota!

  • Give the Guy Props 4 trying 2 hang with tricked out Automatic Cars. Ok 4 sticks are virtually obselete on Track, but still a Blast on the Street. And after all, this is a Street Car. Those lightened Race Cars making him look slow were trailered unless Larry Larsen snuck in with his 6 sec Street Chevy.

Re the Guy's shifting, He wasn't that bad. Butch Leal could show him a few pointers but then Ol Butch was Supernatural on a Stick.

Most folks think they r real Levers til they find out they r not.

  • its like watching an old 1970's chase scene!!!!!

  • Beautiful Chevelle nonetheless....

  • i reckon your loosing alot of time in 1st gear.....try only half pedaling in first then stomping in 2nd....

  • This wasn't good on my ears, if you can't shift it correctly- better go with a slush pump...

  • @StickShiftRacer fully synchronized m20 trying to shift at 7200 is not easy.

  • beautiful car man and great runs!!! and have u rebuilt ur car again yet??? and curius exactly what happened. luv from a fellow chevy man...

  • horsepower is an indicator for mph, and manuals do make slightly more power. I think 5 mph is a little much, 1-3 is more accurate i believe

  • Love this video.....you do know that standard trannys are always 5 mph more than auto right. Your on par with that 121mph. Buddies mustang ran a 11.20@120 with a auto. 11.7-11.6 with a auto would come around 115-116mph. I'm not hating just helping ya.

MINT CHEVELLE!!!! and that Nova at the beginning was also very sweet!

  • Don't you mofo's know how to Power Shift? WTF?

  • Listen to how an "old school" set-up sounds with the baddest 4-speed shifter ever behind the wheel. Just copy and paste this in the search box above and you'll see the YouTube video:

RONNIE SOX - ULTIMATE RACE HEMI 1968

  • Outside of that, you have a great-looking car.

  • "Thats not the rev limiter, it is a 3 step limiter set at 4500 on a clutch switch for the sole purpose of launching the car."

Manual shift race cars sound crappy with that set-up. If you want to have a cool-sounding 4-speed car you need to go "old school" and get rid of the 2/3-step. I grew up watching 4-speed race cars race in the 1970s and let me tell you, they sounded MEAN bringing up the revs then launching--but no more. All you hear now is the constipated eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-waaaaaaah sound.

  • @440John it may have sounded 'mean' to you, but was not a consistent way to launch and tune the car. Go to a super stock race now, every single guy will be launching like this. Trying to hold the revs up at a certain point went out the door with 60lbs flywheels and 5.80 rear gears. If this method was not consistently faster, no one would use it. Its no always about sounding 'cool' when you want to go 'fast'

  • @440John

So, you're implying launch the car with no rev limiter, and peg the pedal to the floor? that's about as smart as having sex without any kind of birth control and expecting not to get pregnant, needless to say, rev limiters, or in this case 2 steps have saved alot of heart ache for the clean up crew having to clean up engine puke when you peg it and the engine revs to the spills your guts all over the track, or over reving in general. if he didn't have a rev limiter bad news..

  • IJUST LOVE THIS CAR

  • Need to stay off the rev limter Saty round 3000rpm drop the clutch and punch it while dropping it.

  • @burnbabey12 watch it again. Thats not the rev limiter, it is a 3 step limiter set at 4500 on a clutch switch for the sole purpose of launching the car.

  • @427ImportEater Your right I seen it. I never liked using them lol

  • @burnbabey12

...everyone has their opinions, but if you haven't driven the car especially a manual, you cannot tell someone where to launch their car, to do it, manuals are extremely difficult to launch.

  • @undercoverLsX I didn't say they sucked I said I don't like using them (thats my opinion). I have drove a 70 chevelle with a blown 496 we had a manual before we swapped in the power glide. I just hit between 2500rpm and 3000rpm depending what i felt and dumped it. Now easy as fuck with the power glide. But you are right manuals are hard to launch especially a heavy ass chevelle

  • love the sound of the rev limiter

  • you need to learn how to launch. if you drop the clutch at the rev limiter the rpm can crawl anymore so they drop, thats why you got beat out of the hole everytime

  • @MR2NDAMENDMENT2 you obviously dont understand the principals of launching a sticj car.

  • @MR2NDAMENDMENT2 Your meaning to tell me that a car that's tubbed out, has a cage, and is not street legal beat him out of the hole. Well no shit surelok, importeater is running 11.6's which is basically the fastest you can go without a cage, AND he isnt tubbed out. he merely found a slick that would fit the stock wheel well. PLUS he isnt launching at redline, its simply a 2 or 3 step limiter.

  • @OldsPowered69 your correct, launching off the 3 step. Also, 121 mph was good for a deep eleven, obviously the lack of cage would not allow us to run that.

  • @MR2NDAMENDMENT2 This is a car you can just jump in and go, ANYWHERE, a picnic, your mom's house, the grocery store, ETC. how many cars do you think at that strip would even attempt that. go back to the drawing board.

  • Car looks like its working good.. I ran a 488 a while untill I changed to a 410.. Picked up et and mph.. Let that big block torque work on the big end..

  • @chevellehotell it could, but the dyno showed this motor makes power up high, and its the bottom end were hurting. We pick up around 28-30mph from the 1/8 to the quarter, which is quite alot

  • My power band starts to fall off around 7300 rpm so I think those gears will work perfect, with the 4.30s I was finishing the 1/4 at 7200 in 3rd, what tire do you recommend to hook with a stick car? thanks in advance

  • @WS6LS 4.88s would work with a 28 inch tall tire. Also, we run a mickey thompson 28/12.5 street e.t.

  • This video just made me change over from 4.30s to 4.88s haha bad ass chevelle right there!! what does your car weigh?

  • @WS6LS 4.88s work well with this combo because they put it through the traps at 7000-7200, right where the motor likes to be. The car weighs around 3750

  • @joshmanfitone keep watching, we move it up to 7000 in the burnout eventually. And its a 3 step (2 step with one more limiter)

  • Comment removed

  • Check Out Our 69 Chevelle

  • awesome car and great videos, hope shes back together.

  • damn that cougar shitted on u

  • What brand clutch are you running in the car? Great videos.....multi-angle shots were awesome.

  • @dnazz32 We were running a centerforce dual friction, worked well as a street/strip clutch and lasted a long time!

  • @427ImportEater Thanks for the info.....my new engine is projected to be 600 ft-lbs and want to get the right clutch....a Lakewood Safety Bellhousing is on the list too. What do you think for my application?

  • Fun watching, makes me want to go rip on my car now

  • no biggie. you'll have back up & running soon. ever considered swapping to auto & trans brake? i love 4-speeds but on the strip...

  • @Hot80s i have a th400 sitting with a transbrake sitting in the corner right now but it would be no fun on the street. The car is really a street car

  • @427ImportEater Even if it were a race car you could still run the stick shift. I know guys who were running low tens on the tires of thirty years ago with their four speeds. Technology has come a long way since those guys were running. Did you ever work on power shifting? That's a tenth of a second over the fastest speed shifting, and it doesn't cost a thing.

  • @LeperMessiah760 There are many things that i can do to make a 4 speed run better at the track, but its not worth the compromise the rest of the year on the street. The tranny is fully synchronized with a sprung hub clutch, steel diaphram pressure plate, and a heavy steel flywheel. Not the recipe for quick shifts at 7000+

  • As the Germans say...kaput. Sucks man, but shit breaks on the track. That 4 speed and dumping off a 2 step is hard on stuff. Fun to watch those cars on the strip.

  • what gears do you have in it? 410?

  • @427ImportEater cool. have you ever thought bout putting 373 gears? for a bit of longer gearing.

  • @85cutlasssupereme would help on the street but hurt us at the track since the motor makes its power 6400-7000, so the 4:88s keep us up there and through the traps at 7000

  • I've Always been leary of of my flywheel letting go... I'm running a Lakewood bell housing, I hope you were. And please please don't ever put a slush box in it, Real race cars have 3 pedals! Love the car!

  • Ouch, smoke and parts on the track, lots of great shots on your vid, car looks good

  • @groutaone Thanks for checking out the videos groutaone!

  • it looked like it was coming around really good about the time it broke!! fast stick cars get old real quick unless you have the money for all the big money trans and clutch setups. i know, I've broke my car every time I've went to the track with a clutch pedal. Good Luck!!

  • Like the video, but not the damage... looks nasty :(

  • @Kvasi70 ill have a carnage video up soon

  • Great video!

You were running some dam fast times there till your day ended. Hope the damage wasn't to bad. Reminds me of my old 68 Camaro when I destroyed my clutch going into 3rd gear @ 6500+rpm :(

  • @GerryK61 and if you noticed we still hadnt brought the launch rpm up, still bogging

  • rev limiter....

  • @lorollinls in the burnout? Keep watching we eventually brought it up to 7000 to keep it out of the way

  • @427ImportEater yes thats what i was referring to. Ah ok cool!

  • What went wrong

  • Man I want a Chevelle just like yours.

  • Woohoo! Great vid. So what let go?

  • @540merlin the flywheel, pretty much wrecked everything. Starting from scratch now..

  • @427ImportEater Sucks. Do a Chevelle carnage video. People like to see broken parts.

  • @540merlin and i have alot of them

  • @427ImportEater I'll bet you do! I look forward to seeing the video.
