@TheBen67 This is an unnacompanied bass solo which has been improvised. This is in his style, which is pretty fast. He makes next to no mistakes and there is no beat during it. It is always changing and if you or your faviorite artists can't do the same, give some respect. Last flea solo I saw it was the same thing as this except with slap and no feeling. Also, this is pretty musical, you aren't listening to him.

See, he's got an amazing talent, and I don't think he plays with no feeling because he's obviously enjoying it. The thing I like seeing most about skilled people like this though is contrast. If someone plays slow or medium and then incorporates little inflections where they're blazing, it's a lot more impressive. If you play modestly, your skill is magnified.

@iamspartacus29 haha...yeah right! Watch some Michael Anthony with Van Hagar bass solo's. Billy can play all types of music, Flamenco, Jazz, Blues, Rock, R&B, Progressive! Plus he has incredible timing and rhythmic ability. He is always in the pocket when there is a pocket to be in. There is no drums in this solo. Your opinion is awful!

Once you have developed more as a player yourself, and worked with a lot of great musicians, you will understand what makes a truly great player. It's about interaction, control, pocket, touch, emotion, technique, knowledge, creativity, and of course sound. Billy Sheehan has no pocket and sounds bad. FAIL x2.

There's a reason it's a solo and they pay him to do it. It's cause it's impressive and fun to watch, not because it's musical... Save the musicality for the songs that you write, the talent that you display in your songwriting. Chill out, it's a bass solo, it's meant to be a crowd pleaser. Nothing else.

See, he's got an amazing talent, and I don't think he plays with no feeling because he's obviously enjoying it. The thing I like seeing most about skilled people like this though is contrast. If someone plays slow or medium and then incorporates little inflections where they're blazing, it's a lot more impressive. If you play modestly, your skill is magnified.
Just my opinion, though.

well if is a solo i think he is right to show how much skills he has...and in a song that would be bad...so i think that solo it's alright the same happens when a guitar player show his skills and a drummer...even it happens since years and years ago when musicians create the capprice...was kind of solos without too much melody...
many of old classical musicians has such stuff...so don't say rubbish XD
